First Look: 2015-16 O-Pee-Chee
http://www.beckett.com/news/2015/04/...16-o-pee-chee/
For many that grew up appreciating hockey cards, there were few childhood moments more exciting than the arrival of the latest set and 2015-16 O-Pee-Chee is a great entry-level release that adult hobbyists can share with younger collectors and introduce them to the joys of collecting when it hits the shelves on September 2.
Finally, there will once again be a wrapper redemption program where collectors can send in a set amount of wrappers and they will receive a five-card pack containing five Red Bordered parallels plus a special OPC Mini Glossy card from a 42-card set that is a throwback to the ones produced in the late 1980s.

The Retro Minis look nice. Looking forward to seeing a larger preview with some of the other new inserts.

Does anyone feel that OPC Platinum may have an impact upon regular OPC?
This year the base cards from Platinum and the regular set looked the same.
Personally, I would rather put together a nice shiny 200 card set than a regular cardboard 600 card set.

Not sure. The only OPC stuff I've purchased in years is singles (I did a "rainbow" of Ranford each time he was in the set, have a few of the Oilers logo patches) but it seems to me that a big part of the appeal (for some) from OPC is the large set.

I've put together both sets, the regular and Platinum, and personally I wouldn't want the regular set to be replaced. I kinda liked the "vintage" cardboard feel of the regular set, and it's a fun set to build on the cheap. I really liked this year's design, not sure about the new one though... seems like they overdid it with the borders

You gotta have the big cheap sets like OPC because for many of the NHL's third/fourth liners, that is their only chance to have a card each year. People still like to go to team practices/functions and get autos of ALL the players, not just the top 2 or 3 stars.

Absolutely - it's as close as you get to seeing a "master set" of NHL players year in and year out. It's an institution in the hobby and there are so many guys for whom this is the only product they break and build every year.
Shiny stuff and 1/1 auto shields are great, but they're not everything.Habs fan and collector! Main PC's: Carey Price, Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, Juraj Slafkovsky, and of course...
