    Where is everyone?

Anyone else feel the forum has been kind of dead as of late especially the high end trading for hockey ?

Dunno man, maybe we all grew up?

Me personally, I worked 52 hours Monday to Thursday, I got divorced yesterday, I got up at 5:30AM to put in another 5 hours today, came home and mowed the giant lawn and now I'm scanning 50 cards for eBay tomorrow. I feel like 360 pounds of crap stuffed into a 228 pound bag.

    So how are you?

    :D

    Currently at work

On an 18 of the last 21 day stretch .... this is day 18 ..... one 7 day 65 hour week and another 6 day 58 hour week.

Ill be here for another 6ish hours getting ready for Mothers Day for some ungrateful department, make my way home only to wake up less than 5 hous later to spend time with my family .... a quick 1.5hour drive to the Wife's family for dinner .... then back to work on Monday for 10 hours, Tuesday we repeat Monday .... Wednesday I get a day off .... but I still have to go in to do paper work / forcasting / schedule .... so I can go on my Vacation for Thursday.

I dont have time for high end trading .... people offering garbage for gold ......checking buckets for stuff I dont want.

Easiest way ..... sell what you dont want, buy what you do.

I don't bother with the High End Trader page anymore as I never got any offers on the cards that I posted there. I stick to the regular trader page and get plenty of offers.
The want list at this link features what I need of Gretzky, Roy, Ottawa Senators, and Miscellaneous sets. I also have a CFL want list on my page and if you have nothing from it I will consider other traders of current Ottawa Senators,Guy Lafleur, + trade bait.

I think the weather has a lot to do with it. Plus it seems to go through stretches where it's just slower than others. Like someone else said just offer your stuff up in the regular trading page and you'll get a lot more views and interest.

It would be interesting to see statistics regarding site activity. It does feel to me like SCF in general doesn't have the traffic it did a couple of years ago, but that may be an incorrect perception on my part.

As for trading, I find it's become almost impossible. Easier to just buy and sell unless you find the right person to deal with.

I'm pretty sure you're spot on with the comment regarding SCF not having the traffic it did a few years ago.

As far as trading goes, everyone always wants to sell so trading becomes less of an option these days. Plus us here in the US have to be careful with our trades because as soon as I put something in a bubble mailer to Canada it costs me $6.55, and at that point I might as well just buy the card because it'll end up being cheaper. I have found a way to ship to Canada (thanks to gallinator) but that's only if the member I'm dealing with is ok with my method.

I think that has seriously put a damper on trading as half the hockey people are located in Canada. It's to the point where I might just drive across the border once or twice a month to do all my Canada shipments

Also when it comes to high-end trading, I personally never really wander in there. I have some decent cards FT but I'm not what I would consider a "high-end" collector. I think a lot of members here are in the same boat as me. The other thing that deters me is that whenever I happen to stumble upon a rare or high-end card I've been searching for, the person who holds it wants about 1000% more than it would actually sell for, so I just end up getting frustrated and end up giving up on it

It is still fairly easy to get some good trades. As long as you make it clear what you have available and what you want. You won't have too much success if you leave the other member trying to guess what you have available or what you may or may not be willing to trade. Keep it simple and state up front whether you go off of FREEBAY selling prices or if you are a real trader.

Interested in knowing what you consider a "real trader" to be? Is it someone who goes by BV?
