The dude actually played a heck of a season, really bolstered his leadership, and now leaves to go represent his country and gets criticized for it? I'm sorry but that's just not right.

Did you ever think maybe he's proud to be Russian? Like representing his country? Maybe I don't know, the dude loves the game of hockey? Unbelievable that someone goes off to play for their national team and gets criticized. Where was this when Crosby ran over?

Shhhhh you should know by now that there's a double standard for good ole Canadian kids and those Russkies.

RGM81, I bet ,Subban cried like a baby after Montreal lost to TB, and I bet you, Ovy never shed one tear, after saying the Cap's would beat the Ranger's in the 7th game.

And I bet they actually went out partying after they got eliminated. Both teams. My claims are just as unfounded as yours.

Agreed. Nobody said a thing when Crosby did the same. The double standard (/"casual racism" as my friend put it ) is kind of sad.

I didn't mean to offend no one, I meant no harm, I will keep my thoughts and comments to myself. and these were thoughts, nothing more.

Look at who makes up the roster the Stanley Cup Champions for the past couple of decades and then tell me it is merely coincidence.
The want list at this link features what I need of Gretzky, Roy, Ottawa Senators, and Miscellaneous sets. I also have a CFL want list on my page and if you have nothing from it I will consider other traders of current Ottawa Senators,Guy Lafleur, + trade bait.

No it's not coincidence at all. I just think that some people didn't get the memo that the Cold War ended more than 20 years ago.

There is some truth the idea that Russians USED to play soft, and Mr. Cherry made sure we all knew about it, But NOT so much now, and certainly not Ovechkin who is in the top 5 in body checks over the last 10 seasons.
Can you imagine if he was Canadian how popular he would be for goodness sake?!?! He is a higher scoring, faster skating, and more durable version of Cam Neely. He would be a god if he played in Boston, the prototypical power forward, and a saint in Montreal!

There's a reason that Alex Kovalev was loved, while Saku Koivu was admired, in Montreal. Kovalev literally brought people out of their seats when he went on one of his rushes. Most exciting forward the team had since Lafleur.
