Hello from Oregon

Hello all! the name is Ryan and I hail from the capital city in the beautiful and great state of Oregon. I have always loved sports cards, with Basketball cards being my first love. I started collecting when I was about 9 or 10 in 1995 with a pack of Fleer Metal I bought at Universal Studios Hollywood. Pulled a Dikembe Mutombo insert and I was hooked. Always went to my local shop around the corner as a kid, even with 10 card stores in town at the time. Fast forward to now, and his shop is the only one left in town. Still brings back memories walking in there. Same 13 inch tv with baseball playing, same glass display cases, same notebooks chalked full of cheap star cards. Smell like the 90's.

I've stopped collecting and started up again several times over the past 20 years, having just started up again seriously for the first time since KD was a rookie. Being a 90's kid, I have a soft spot for HTF inserts of MJ and Stackhouse, my two favorite players. I also collect memorabilia/auto/htf cards from my favorite teams: Trailblazers, Patriots, Red Sox, and Bruins. I love to open packs and boxes, but I always tend to find myself saying that I should have just bought the card I wanted as I end up with an abundance of cards I don't need, and a hit or two of something I wasn't looking for anyway. But then again, if you don't bust them open you can't pull that mojo that could change everything!

I've collected several different types of items in my past including lego, hot wheels, coins, gi joes, breweriana, and a plethora of other items. I always end up becoming a member of a collector forum, so I figured SCF would be a great place for me. I know the feedback isn't transferable, but I do have 100% positive trading feedback from my hotwheels days on both Hotwheelscollectors.com and Diecastaway.com. I also have 100% positive feedback (except for the Department 56 shipping nightmare I had 4 years ago, long story) and a small store on ebay under the username Oaklandfoo. I look forward to becoming a respected and well liked trading member here on SCF! I promise you guys will love me (or at least tolerate me haha!)

I would love to hear from any other collectors in Oregon/Washington, especially if you frequent the Twin Oaks shows as I plan on attending as many I can. There are not a whole lot of other (friendly) collectors where I am at, and if there are they are tough to find. I couldn't even get the craigslist "I buy sports cards" guy to sell me some singles locally.
