There wasn't a better guy on the forum. I'll always remember how bravely he fought, and how he never let his illness define him. RIP Chris.

I saw this news on Facebook, and while I haven't been active on here for quite awhile, I wanted to share my condolences. I didn't have many dealings with him, but I do remember him being fairly active on the boards. Always tough to hear about someone losing their battle with such a debilitating disease, especially when young children are involved. I hope his family has ample support through this troublng time. Rest in peace, Chris.

Rest In Peace. Having gone through cancer myself and just losing a fellow firefighter to cancer about three weeks ago, it never gets easy when someone loses their life to such a disease. But as I am reading and dealt with him, it sounds more how he was a person to everyone here and to his family. That can never be replaced. My prayers are with his family.

*UPDATE*
I have some updated information from Heather (Chris' wife) regarding how things are going.
The first day was tough for boys, especially Conner. Heather has been doing her best to try and answer questions and has been keeping them busy. She is pretty overwhelmed with everything (which is understandable). Her parents have helped pay for the funeral. She never did the bills or finances, so she is trying to figure that out now. She is pretty stressed over finances. My wife and I would like to start some form of collection to try and help her out with groceries and the such (perhaps WalMart gift cards?). If this is something that is OK, let me know.
As far as the funeral arrangements, it will be held on Saturday October 10th at 12:00pm (noon). The location is:
Oakey's South Chapel
4257 Brambleton Avenue
Roanoke, VA 24018
Then, they will proceed to the grave sight for the service. The viewing will be the Friday evening (October 9th). If anyone wants to send flowers, please send them to the chapel.
As far as my thoughts on Chris....
Like many of you, I met him on here. We did a couple of deals and kept in touch. He was a great man, husband, and father. He was a fighter that gave it all he had. No matter what pain, discomfort, or treatments he went through, he always maintained a positive attitude. No matter what he had going on, he always had encouraging words to say to me.
I remember when I told him my wife and I are having our first child (took us 13 years and had multiple miscarriages). He was SO excited for us. He would tell me how much my life would change the moment I saw my daughter. How much you think you love someone, then you see and hold your baby for the first time and the love grows and swells into something much larger than you ever imagined. He was right, poopy diapers and all - I am head over heels for her.
I am sad because I lost a great friend. I kick myself because I never had a chance to meet him in person (I lived in California - now Nevada - and Chris lives in Virginia). I really want to help because I know Heather is really overwhelmed, especially with the holidays coming up. I really think gift cards will help them out. Please contact me and let me know if you are interested.
Thanks!

I'm not very active on here anymore since I got out of cards and more in to the memorabilia side and I'm not sure if I ever dealt with Chris but this is definitely sad news to hear. Anyone who has to fight the nasty disease of cancer I feel for them. Sounds like he fought it with the most dignity and positive attitude you could ask for. His family will definitely be in prayers.
