Panini America Delivers Detailed First Look at 2015-16 Prizm Basketball (Gallery)

Panini America’s popular Prizm Basketball franchise has blazed an undeniable trail into the hearts of collectors during its first three years of existence, parlaying the popular, powerful Prizm parallel into one of the hobby’s true legacy chase elements. But as company officials prepare 2015-16 Prizm Basketball for an early December release, they’re introducing a new twist for the fourth annual installment.

For the first time ever, Prizm Basketball will deliver on-card rookie autographs including rare Hyper Prizm parallel versions numbered to just 10. 2015-16 Prizm Basketball also features a sizable 400-card base set and a colorful new array of Prizm parallels. Each hobby box of 2015-16 Prizm Basketball (four cards per pack, 20 packs per box) will yield one autograph and 12 Prizm parallels (including three numbered Prizms). Hobby Jumbo boxes (12 cards per pack, 12 packs per box) will deliver two autographs and 22 Prizm parallels (including six numbered Prizms).

I'm more than pleased that they have gone back to better images for the base design. Other than that, on card rookie autos, and the 1 Auto per box, I can't think of anything else positive to mention.

Why did they add borders? Looks like a cheapo version of Select and that font/lettering is too generic.

Yeah I don't think it looks bad at all but now that you mention Select it looks too much like Select IMO. Just ditch the Select brand and keep Prizm anyway since I can't really tell what is the purpose of Select and Prizm seems to be more popular from what I've seen. Just too many similar brands from Panini in my opinion.

I always thought Panini Prizm was centered on autos and parallels while Panini Select was basically the same thing but with memorabilia added in. I like the borders but I too see the similarity with Panini Select.

In a way 15'16 Panini Prizm reminds me of Bowman. Side note, I find it odd Unibrow is on the box cover of 15'16 Prizm. I know he's a top 5 player in the NBA but isn't Prizm supposed to be all about the rookies? No biggy, just little things I notice like that.

Probably why I'm not a fan of Select then. Don't really care for memorabilia and judging by how hard it is to trade the stuff on here most collectors don't either.
