    I'd rather have that booklet but then again I could really care less about the online sales.
    The want list at this link features what I need of Gretzky, Roy, Ottawa Senators, and Miscellaneous sets. I also have a CFL want list on my page and if you have nothing from it I will consider other traders of current Ottawa Senators,Guy Lafleur, + trade bait.

    If it were me, I'd just want to get the original card back, smudges and all. Like they say in hockey trades, whoever gets the best player wins the trade, and I think that's the case here too. There are going to be hundred if not thousands of similar cards made over the coming years of McDavid in various permutations of patch and/or auto and/or booklet... but how many dual signed pucks with the Great One will there be, in Team Canada colours to boot? A 2-for-1 swap is often going to be a downgrade anyways, but to be short changed in both the high value but even worse in the low beckett value, just makes it even worse.

    That's kind of where I come out on it as well. They did email me back and are going to send me a couple more card to make good on the value. From a collectors stand point, anything other than the Gretzky/McDavid was going to be a loss because I just think that's a tough card to replace from a collectability standpoint. Since I was probably going to sell the card anyways (As I only collect Ristolainen and this would fetch me a good chunk of $$), as long as the value is there then I guess I don't care too much. I would have definitely preferred a 1/1 swap, which is tough with a card of this BV, as cards that are usually this valuable are NPDTS. Maybe they'll make up even more of the value and I'll come out a bit ahead, we shall see.

    If I were asking for a replacement there, I'd want something Gretzky in return. You turned in a signature of The Great One, you should have received a signature of him in return. Just my opinion though.

    However, good to see that they will be fixing the difference and sending you something else. Kudos to them.

    I would strongly disagree on that. Upper Deck pays McDavid (and all of their athletes) to give them good clean signatures. It's not like he just has an ugly signature, because it is ALWAYS then an ugly signature and would be a whole different story. They are not paying him to smudge up his autographs. Not to mention, they certainly then shouldn't pass it along to their end product/customer. If Mcdavid gave a crisp auto on a hard signed card, but bent it in half, could upper deck then say "oh well Connor did that so really we don't owe him a fair replacement." No, that's ridiculous and would never fly. If you are paying good money for a box of cards, it should be free of all major defects. This isn't the same as a card grading out between a 9, 9.5 or a patch card with some minor dings....it's a huge smudge. Not accetable....period.

    Fair points. I don't think a smudged auto is a major defect though. Its different if like you said the card was bent in half or something. I highly doubt UD is going to throw the card out because of the smudged auto and if they say don't put it in the product at all you most likely would have pulled a card with much much less value.

    I think UD did well in giving you a card with fair value again Im assuming Thornis #s are correct. Your right though If I drop a $100+ on a box and I pulled a smudged auto I wouldn't be thrilled. I guess im just saying that I dont blame them for putting the card in.

    Also Great to hear that they are having good customer service by sending you more cards when you weren't satisfied. Good Luck!

    Also goes to show that this year's Signatures Pucks (a set I actually like) were a disaster in this year's release.

    Nice to hear that they'll try and bridge that gap, but it's a little disappointing. Even the the dual auto must be hard to replace 1 for 1. However, if you are selling for funds, then you'll make a decent stack no doubt :)

    Looking forward to see the extras they send you! Great cards!

    the dual on card Gretzky/mcdavid is going to hold its value for longer than the booklet. As more mcdavid game used pieces come out, it won't be as sought after..... But than dual sure will!

    [QUOTE=theboxbreaker96;14188659I don't think a smudged auto is a major defect though. [/QUOTE]

    Really? Pretty much all we can ask of an auto is that is NOT be smudged. It's the only defect that matters.
