Idiocy on the internet, new hockey cards
Why oh why are people listing the Young Guns updates from today's release of SP Authentic for such ridiculously high prices?
$100 for Pittsburgh Goaltender Matt Murray?
Just because you're the first one to list it?
Seems like a waste of effort on the sellers part.
Opinions?

Meh. You nailed it..... it's the first one listed, so why not try to shoot for the moon?
If their card, ask whatever you want for it. $100 or $1000, I don't really care.....
Anyone who wants one, I wouldn't worry about it too much. It won't be long before the 99 cent auctions start, and you can get one for a "real" price.

Remember what Andrew Hammond YG's were doing out of the blocks last year? Multiply that level of success by a couple orders of magnitude.

As many others have suggested, the market will correct this very quickly. However, if you are the seller and someone jumps on that card for $100 would you complain? Hope you snag a Murray for a great price!

I hate it when this happens with a limited card that us team collectors want. $100 for a Ryan Nugent-Hopkins jersey limited to 20 copes? You have a hat you may seduce, sir!

Although I haven't been busting many products in the last year I always enjoyed busting new products as soon as they come out just because there are a lot of collectors that just... need-it-now and pay ridiculous prices. Yes I do hate seeing 'eBay 1/1' because it is the first one on eBay (what a joke) it's nice to bust a new product and get the feel for it in-person knowing that even a mediocre box has great potential of breaking even.
I think it's funny seeing listings like this, but it doesn't aggravate me more than seeing the same card listed on eBay for a ridiculous price for 2+ years.
It really all balances out eventually. Collectors buy The Cup, some collectors buy OPC. Some collectors pay $200 for a card whilst 99% of all other collectors would only pay $50 for it.
Look on the bright side, maybe a collector of OPC (for financial reasons) hits a $200 card. That money likely goes back into the hobby, which gets split between LCS' and us. Think about how much less money there is funding our individual hobbies (or addictions) if all those financially strapped collectors just keep flipping $100 into $20.

"Fools and their money are soon parted."
At least if they spend their money on hockey cards, they wont be wasting it on "upgrading" their phone data plans or subscribing to Kim Kartrashian's web site. So this way the money stays in the hobby.
