You have to wonder if CTE is involved.
    Always Looking for:

    A) Graded Vintage (Pre-1980) (BGS, BVG, PSA, SGC) in all sports
    B) Graded True RC's (No inserts or parallels) (BGS, PSA, SGC) in all sports
    C) Certified Auto and GU cards of players from the 70's and further back in all sports

Either way I think ESPN and the media will push this CTE angle hard. I thought about that too but seeing as how he didn't even play that long I'd be skeptical and would lean more towards depression/money problems etc. I mean he played in less than 3 dozen NFL games so if he got head trauma after that I would hate to think what these guys who play for 15+ seasons have.

Peter- However, you also have to consider how many years he played in college, high school, and even youth programs. The NFL years are only part of it.

True, true. I always forget that these guys probably were playing since they were little kids and didn't just start out playing in HS/college.

I imagine players who play certain positions are more susceptible to brain trauma.
