The RedZone Edition #4: Season Preview

    THE REDZONE: Season Preview!
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Edition #4
    By Hagansp and Matt31387 (A Co-op effort)

The 2007 Season is upon us, and while only 2 products have released yet, the anticipation for the season is getting hard to bear. Minicamps have started around the league and we are a few months away from Training camps beginning. Once that process begins, the season is only another month or so away. September can't come soon enough for Football addicts.

Be sure to check out the hottest rookies list to see who we predict will be hottest to collect from this rookie class! Enjoy and let us know your thoughts and give us feedback.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
HOT 5 (Top 5 Popular Products of Late 06 and 2007 To Date)
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    1. 2007 Press Pass SE
    https://www.sportscardforum.com/clear.gif
With 1 Auto or Jersey per pack, and 12 packs per box, Signature Edition is the early favorite to collect in 2007. Granted all of this will change when Donruss Elite and other hit the shelves but Signature Edition looks nice in Mid May, so grab it up now...because ya know you'll forget about it soon. Group regular press pass with this as well.

    2. 2007 Sage Hit
https://www.sportscardforum.com/clear.gifBy default, Sage Hit comes in at #2, because its the only other 2007 Product on the market right now, while it has a nicer look then years past, it's only a matter of time until Sage Hit falls to the bottom of the popularity list and people frown upon it.

    3. 2006 Topps Paradigm
    https://www.sportscardforum.com/clear.gif
One of the better looking products Ive seen, but the resale value just doesn't seem to be there. At low $300 a box, you get 3 Autos, 1 Dual Relic card, and a base or parrallel card. Ive seen some cards of Hall of Famers sell for less then 60 bucks...so if you want a gamble, Paradigm is a sweet product, but If your looking for bang for your buck, its a little risky.

    4. 2006 Exquisite
    https://www.sportscardforum.com/clear.gif
VERY VERY VERY PRICEY HERE, about $800 a box, and you will receive only 3 cards...The catch every card is an auto, some multi autos, some multi relic/auto, etc. This product is as high-end as it gets. I certainly don't recomend it, but if you got extra $$ floating around why not.

    5. 2006 Playoff National Treasures
    https://www.sportscardforum.com/clear.gif
Another very nice product/very highend product around $500 a pack, one of the later products to release. Youll get 7 cards, 6 are Jerseys or Autos. Again, another gamble, but it could pay off.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
TOP PLAYERS (Whose Hot! Non Rookies)
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    1. LaDainian Tomlinson: The best player in football? I would say so, Tomlinson is just out of this world amazing, and has gotten to a point where collectors can't even get him anymore he is so hot. Would you part with a nice LT?

    2. Reggie Bush: What more is their to say, Reggie Bush is amazing!

    3. Peyton Manning:
The Super Bowl MVP and one of the best QBs ever, Peyton is and has always been a top player, his Super Bowl championship put him in another league. Manning is just too good.

    4. Frank Gore: Gore jumped onto the scene last season and dominated all year long commanding a ton of fan support, you can still get him at affordable prices and if he puts together another great season watchout. Gore is RED HOT!

    5. Tom Brady: Brady has gone from one of the leagues worst WR corps, to arguebly the best, Moss/Stallworth are an amazing 1/2 punch and then other guys include Welker,Washington,Jackson,Brown. Brady will go into yet another season as the favorite to win the Super Bowl.

    6. Larry Johnson: How will the potential trade talk affect LJ's performance, and will he get back to MVP form? How much will KC pound him this year? LJ is a top back in the NFL, but will collectors continue spending top dollar on him?

    7. Steven Jackson: Expect Jackson to be a top 5 RB this season, and with this will come tons of attention and Book value markup. Grab him now, if he isn't already too hot for ya, he can do it all in the backfield!

    8. Brett Favre: Favre is back for another season, and Green Bay fans, Favre fans, and people who love collecting future Hall of Famers will keep collecting Favre. I don't like him, but plenty of collectors do.

    9. Vince Young: One of the more popular players to collect in last years amazing rookie class. Vince Young has a huge following, almost resembling the same as Vick his 2nd year, people love his strong arm and mobility, but once he ages a little and gets hit a little will he end up following Vick?

    10. Jay Cutler: Another rookie from last years class, people love Cutler. He has shown a good understanding of the offense in his games he started last year, and now will have to show he can do it over a 16 game season, Cutler could climb or fall very quickly.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
JUST MISSED LIST (Players on the verge)
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    1. Willis McGahee: Expect big things in Baltimore, Willis is ready to proove himself again, and with all his U friends in Baltimore, McGahee should go off HUGE this year.

    2. Tony Romo: Romo is the QB of the Dallas Cowboys so he will always have a bigtime popularity...until he starts to perform bad...he is still in Cowboys fans good graces right now.

    3. Carson Palmer: Carson is a fan favorite, and is one of the top QBs in the NFL. How can you not like the Bengals? Unless your a Steelers or Ravens fan I guess. Palmer should return to ProBowl form this season.

    4. Donovan McNabb: McNabbs time is there, his fans still support him, and theres no doubting he is a top QB in the league, but can he stay healthy and mentally in the game.

    5. Randy Moss: Moss could take off is he starts the season well and performs well, or if he shows he doesn't have it anymore, could free fall. Moss and Brady could be special together if Moss gets his act together.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
THE FUTURE (Top 5 Players to WATCH OUT FOR)
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    1. Laurence Maroney: The only back in New England, with the WR weapons they have, opponents won't be able to load the box, so watch for Maroney to have a HUGE year.

    2. Jason Campbell: Jason Campbell looked like he grew a lot in the few games he played towards the end of this year. He started looking more confident and started making better throws as he progressed. Campbell looks like he will be the real deal in Washington!

    3. Cedric Benson: He better of shown the Bears something if they dealt away Thomas Jones, Benson could be HUGE this year! Could be the best of this list.

    4. Roy Williams: Well we know he has the talent but he hasn't really put an amazing WR season together yet, this should be his year with a WR on the opposite side of him which will draw attention too.

    5. Jerious Norwood: Well if ya know us, were both collecting Norwood, so obviously we both think he is the real deal and has a bright future, so here ya go...Watch Out!

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Hottest Rookies! (Pre-Season Picks!)
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    1. Calvin Johnson: WOW this guy is just amazing, he will dominate in the NFL, and the Lions have finally found their other WR.

    2. Adrian Peterson: Peterson is argueably a top 3 picks, and should be the 2nd best player out of this years draft. He has some durability concerns, so beware if you go all-in on him.

    3. Brady Quinn: Not because we think he is #3, but because Notre Dame fans are going crazy with him, he will be a hot ticket to collect in 07.

    4. Jamarcus Russell: Russell was the top pick, but isn't the hottest rookie to collect, partly because we see his value being initially higher then everyone elses, but will he have early success in Oakland?

    5. Marshawn Lynch: Lynch is the man in Buffalo and with the totally revamped and young team, he is it. Expect him to be given the rock time and time again. Could take sometime for Buffalo to become a winner, so maybe won't be hot early on.

    6. Patrick Willis:
This guy is a beast...San Fran will be a serious contender this year and he may be the leading canidate for Defensive ROY honors.

    7. LaRon Landry:
No doubt the best defensive back in this years draft, pairing with Sean Taylor will be 2 of the hardest hitting safeties combos in the NFL...Will be a popular guy in the NFL.

    8. Brandon Jackson:
Some may be wondering on this one, but who else does Green Bay have? Vernand Morency? Jackson should be the go to guy at RB in Green Bay, and if he starts out fast, watch out!

    9. Robert Meachem:
Steps into a role in New Orleans where Joe Horn has left and will be a go-to guy right away. This is one of the most electric offenses in football and Meachem will get his looks to perform.

    10. Michael Bush:
Maybe one of the bigger long shots of this draft class...argueably a 1st round pick before he got hurt, Bush could be interesting to collectors looking to profit down the road.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
WHOSE NOT! (Players who are falling off want-list's)
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    1. Michael Vick: First the hidden compartment in the water bottle, then the dog fighting incidents, what an offseason...oh and did I mention Atlanta traded the better of their 2 QBs? Vick is free-falling and if collectors are still picking up Vick, they are playing with fire.

    2. Cadillac Williams: Cadillac Williams went from Rookie of the Year to a player who collectors are trying to move ASAP. What happened here?

    3. Adam Pacman Jones: Not that he was overly popular to begin with, but he had top tier autos in every product and was a early 1st round pick, can't doubt his ability, but if he doesn't correct himself he will be a wasted talent.

    4. Daunte Culpepper: Culpepper has one shot to get it done in Miami this year, and if he doesn't he is out the door. Heck, he may not even be given a shot, one of the harder cases of the Madden Curse!

    5. Vince Young: Yes, we know he is #9 in the Hot List, but thats because a lot of people collect him, WE DONT! You heard it here first, Madden Curse, Young will never be the same...what do ya know...3 Madden Curse victims on the list...Vick/Daunte/Young.

Nice read as always. Of course saying Michael Bush is a longshot is kind of a oxymoron. Was he not in the talks for HESIMAN along with QB Brohm who will be a first rounder and probably the HOTTEST guy coming out next year. I know you said he was a first rounder but the injury and out for the season even though he had a good HALF GAME.

So a longshot is not the word I would use but he definitely one to jump on if you think he will be a GOOD RB as no one even has him on the radar. Going to take him about half the season before he is even set to go.

p.s. Wasn't a fun day in the BUSH HOUSEHOLD that for sure watching the draft and your name keeps getting BYPASSED until the Radiers call. He has the talent and I think he will be a good bad if and IF the injury heals fully That makes his cards such a gamble but creates the big upside as well.

Ok big deal Young made ROY just like the Heisman it does nothing for your career. I think the Madden curse continues but not because of what some might think. Remember what team he is on and who they have to play.

I GUARANTEE he doesn't beat the colts with his legs this year!

I see alot of sleepers this year more than most. I think ROY will be alot harder and closer to pick with this crop.

One person I believe you missed on Matt Leinart. Get ready for some fun in the sun. We all know about the guys he is throwing too and who is in the backfield. I believe he will settle in the system and if the Defense can keep games close LOOKOUT!

All in all nice read, McNabb? Can someone tell the author Kolb isn't the answer at backup and he's sure to see time! LOL the Eagles your funny!

And explain your LOL the eagles...because the Eagles will clean up in the NFC East and are right now the 2nd best team in the NFC.

Oh I agree they are one of the better teams in the NFC with Mcnabb at the helm. but he hasn't made it through a whole season in awhile and Feely taking over should give you the creeps not something to brag about. Remember they let Garcia walk. But in saying that it goes for almost all teams lose a key person and your season could be over quick guess thats why they play the games. :becky:
