    Login/Cookies Issues

    Hello all.

In order to fix some cookie issues, we had to change the cookie settings of the forums. If all goes well, you will just be prompted to login again once, and that should be well. If you experience login issues, delete all sportscardforum.com cookies in your browser, then close the browser, reopen it, and login again.

The problem the forum had before was that when moving from a sportscardforum.com domain to www.sportscardforum.com domain, the login was lost, because cookies were set at subdomain level. Now cookies set by the forums are valid for all .sportscardforum.com websites.

    Thanks.

I'm having major issues logging in. I deleted the cookies and it didn't help. I had to try multiple times and it still wouldn't let me in. I'm not sure how I got in but finally it worked.
    Any idea why it's happening?

Since some users are still reporting issues with some specific browsers (Firefox and AOL), here are some instructions you should follow. Again, you should be having no issues at all - we use only Firefox when working on SCF, and did not have any issue in any of our PCs. Make sure you have not installed a too old version of the browser, and that you have followed all instructions in detail. If you still have issues after you have followed carefully the instructions, please post here your browser version and OS.

    For Firefox (Removing cookies section):
    http://kb.mozillazine.org/Cookies

    1. Go to: Tools -> Options -> Privacy
    2. Click on Show Cookies
    3. Enter 'sportscardforum' in the search box
    4. Delete all shown cookies (you can select multiple at once by holding CTRL)
    5. Close your browser, including the download boxes
    6. Login again

    For IE and AOL Browsers:

    Windows Internet Explorer 7

    1. Exit Internet Explorer 7.
    2. Click Start, click Run, type inetcpl.cpl, and then press ENTER.
    3. On the General tab, click Delete under Browsing History in the Internet Properties dialog box.
    4. In the Delete Browsing History dialog box, click Delete Cookies.
    5. In the Delete Cookies dialog box, click Yes.

    Windows Internet Explorer 5 & 6

    1. Open Internet Explorer, click the Tools menu and choose Internet Options.
    2. Click the Delete Cookies button.
    3. Click OK.
    4. To delete certain cookies:
Open Internet Explorer, click the Tools menu and choose Internet Options.
    - Click the Settings button.
    - Click the View Files button.
    - Click the View menu and select Details.
    - Click the Internet Address column header to sort, then locate the Internet addresses of the cookie files. For example, a cookie Internet address may be named similar to the following: Cookie:[email protected]
    - Highlight the cookies you wish to delete, then press the Delete key.

    Windows Internet Explorer 4

One more tool to help you - if you cannot get rid of your cookies, try accessing this page:

    https://www.sportscardforum.com/tmplogout.php (you should see nothing)

The page will attempt to remove all your old sportscardforum.com cookies.

Also, some IE users reported the issue was being caused by their favorites. Try removing sportscardforum.com from your favorites, logout, close the browser, re-login, and readd it to your favorites.

Again, all these issues should not occur in a normal setup. We did nothing more than uupdating vB cookie settings; no unsual or custom modification to the system was done.

Some of the problems might be caused by too high security settings in a browser. Please, if you still have errors, post here your OS, browser version, and all errors that might help us debug this and find a pattern. We currently have 3 users with login problems. 5 more that contacted me yesterday had not followed carefully the indications in here. One more discovered of having IE 4 installed in his machine.

    Thanks all for the help!

We have added some customization to vBulletin headers specifically for users with very high security settings in their brower - 2 of the people still experiencing login issues are having problems because of the high security settings in their browser. Please give it a try and let us know.

Since 2 users are still reporting impossibility to use the forums because they cannot change the high security settings in their browser, we have reverted the changed and added instead a redirection from sportscardforum.com to www.sportscardforum.com.

    Thanks.
