Former UFC heavyweight champion and two-time NCAA champion wrestler Kevin Randleman has died at age 44.

Sources told FOX Sports on Thursday that Randleman had been admitted to a San Diego hospital for pneumonia and later passed away due to heart failure. He had been living in Las Vegas.

Long before he was one of the most feared men in the Octagon, Randleman was already a legend on the mats during his years at Ohio State, where he followed in the footsteps of another UFC icon, Mark Coleman.

Randleman was a fierce wrestler who captured two NCAA wrestling championships and was a three-time All-American.

Once college was finished, Randleman decided to follow Coleman into the UFC, where he would soon gain a reputation as one of the most powerful and explosive fighters in the history of the sport.

Randleman debuted in the UFC in 1999, and three fights into his career he was already the heavyweight champion of the world. Randleman defeated Pete Williams to win the vacant title and then went on to defend it against Pedro Rizzo in June 2000.

In 2002, Randleman ventured to Japan, where he became a fixture in PRIDE Fighting Championships, which is where he would spend the next four years while taking on some of the best competition in the world.

Former Green Bay Packers defensive back Mike C. McCoy has died, the team said Monday.

A native of West Memphis, Ark., McCoy played in 110 games from 1976-83, starting 97. He had 13 interceptions and five fumble recoveries, and played on the Packers' 1982 playoff team during the strike-shortened season. He also returned kicks.

Former Bears quarterback Rudy Bukich passed away Monday at his home in Del Mar, Calif. He was 85.

Bukich played nine of his 14 NFL seasons with the Bears in two stints, first in 1958-59 and later from 1962-68. He appeared in 59 games with 30 starts for Chicago, completing 474 of 878 passes for 6,254 yards with 46 touchdowns, 45 interceptions and a 72.9 passer rating.

After serving as Bill Wade’s backup on the 1963 Bears team that won the NFL championship, Bukich was the club’s starting quarterback in 1965 and 1966. In 1965, he was named All-Pro after passing for 2,641 yards with 20 TDs, nine interceptions and a 93.7 rating.

Bukich set a Bears record that has since been broken by completing 13 straight passes from Nov. 22-26, 1964, in games against the San Francisco 49ers and Detroit Lions.

Bukich grew up in St. Louis and attended Iowa State before transferring to USC. Known as "Rudy the Rifle" because of his strong arm, he was named Rose Bowl MVP in 1953 and inducted into the Rose Bowl Hall of Fame in 2004.

Bukich was selected in the second round of the 1953 NFL Draft by the Los Angeles Rams and also played for the Washington Redskins (1957-58) and Pittsburgh Steelers (1960-61).

His NFL career was interrupted from 1954-56 when he served in the U.S. Army stationed at Fort Ord as a machine gun instructor. During that time, his team won the Armed Services Football Championship.

Clyde Lovellette, a bruising Hall of Famer who was one of the first big men in basketball and the first player to win an N.C.A.A. championship, an Olympic gold medal and an N.B.A. title, died on Wednesday at home in North Manchester, Ind. He was 86.

The cause was cancer, his daughter Cynthia Heckelsberg said.

Lovellette’s triple feat — playing on N.C.A.A., Olympic and National Basketball Association championship teams — was later matched by Bill Russell, Magic Johnson and Michael Jordan.

Lovellette (pronounced loh-VEL-et) won three championships altogether in his 11 seasons in the N.B.A. from 1953 to 1964: one title with the Minneapolis Lakers and two with the Boston Celtics.
