Leafs’ perplexingly strong play defies logic
BY: Howard Berger
TORONTO -- They passed through town at the end of a road trip like a category-five hurricane, causing maximum damage while they were there and leaving valued parts strewn in their wake. No one expected these Toronto Maple Leafs to conjure such an image, but the cleanup in downtown Montreal was still underway long after the visitors fled town on a chartered jet.
Who were those guys in the vintage white and blue jerseys on Saturday? They impressively buzzed about the ice at the Bell Centre in a 5-2 wipeout of the Canadiens, resembling the legendary cast that wore the uniforms on a nightly basis during a Stanley Cup reign in the 1960s. Yet this group is almost certain to establish an all-time franchise mark by missing the playoffs for a fourth consecutive spring.

One of the Leafs biggest problems in the past was not allowing younger players ice time. This year we have had alot of newcomers come up through the system and alot of them have performed VERY well.
It sucks that we will be missing the playoffs for the fourth year however we look to have a bright future ahead of us.
