Baseball memorabilia from the collection of the late big league pitcher Ted Wilks will enter the market for the first time this weekend at a Florida auction.
Wilks played for three different teams over a ten-year big league career–the Cardinals, Pirates and Indians. He made 385 appearances, mostly as a reliever and finished his career with a 59-30 record and 3.26 earned run average. He was a member of two World Series championship teams in St. Louis, 1944 and ‘46.

Wilks’ 1946 World Series ring, several of his contracts, a team-signed ball, a game ball, photos and other items will be sold at auction.
Wilks died in 1989 at age 73 and his wife passed away recently. The couple’s grandchildren are now selling items from his big league career that had been stored in trunks for decades.
The Lakeland, Florida auction takes place on October 9th at 10 a.m. Lot viewing is Friday October 8th from 6pm – 8pm and 8 am day of auction. The auction is open to the public and is free to attend. There is also Internet, phone and absentee bidding available via Manor Auctions website (http://www.liveauctioneers.com/catalog/22640).
