Everton footballer Wayne Rooney has been slammed for signing an autograph moments after he was given a "soft" sentence for drink-driving.

Anti-drink-driving safety campaigners say it appeared Rooney felt like he had "got away with it" as he scribbled his name for a fan as he left the court.

A leading campaign says it was "somewhat disrespectful" for Rooney to sign the autograph, which was inked on paper with HM Courts & Tribunals Service and Stockport Country Court branding.

A fan called Tyler, who claims he works at the court where Rooney was sentenced, was "over the moon" after getting the signature from his idol.
