More of the usual 5 billion parallels, but at 4 autos a box it doesnt sound that bad. Of course problem being that Topps doesnt have the big names that UD has in that regard, so you're looking at probably Wade as the biggest catch?

Think it's worth pre-ordering?

well, at least in Topps you won't have to wait 2 years for a redemption, and there may not even be a redemption in the whole set...

no mention of any GU in there though? kind of weird

11-27-2006, 06:17 PM
yeah, I just noticed that, but maybe like for Trademark Swish, Trademark Dunk, etc. have autos and GU versions...and maybe insert versions as well.

Topps also has Shaq and Iverson for autographs.

The set looks like a run-of-the-mill high end experiment though. I don't know if it's a good idea.

4 autos, however, if they keep printing all these parallels, the autos will be worthless as well.

11-27-2006, 07:31 PM
I think Topps should stop and/or reduce the products they already have...

11-27-2006, 07:36 PM
They also have the celebrity stuff, right? Or did they can that this year?

11-27-2006, 07:57 PM
I can't stand the newer topps autographs b/c they are all sticker autographs. The sticker is all shiny and cheap looking and just takes away from the appearance of the autograph itself. However, UD's sticker is clear and nice looking on most of their newer products. And yeah, most parallels = worthless.

11-27-2006, 08:00 PM
They thankfully canned the celebrity stuff.

11-27-2006, 08:09 PM
actually, there is a few more celeb cards out this year I think I saw (like Elevation) but mostly, they canned them all.

Topps is just running itself into the ground...i love how the refractor and x-fractor book for the same amount on most finest...

11-27-2006, 11:03 PM
yeah, i hated when i got two packs of topps last year and didn't even get an nba rookie in a pack...just a stupid celebrity

11-28-2006, 12:42 AM
the card market as a whole could afford to be more conservative with their releases; fleer goes down in basketball but there is still a plethora of product

11-28-2006, 01:27 AM
Agreed with that!

I've been trying to get my Hill collection up to date and I can't even begin to keep track of the parallels out there anymore

11-28-2006, 04:46 AM
Yeah i bought a box of elevation for 110 dollars and it wasnt until a week or so after that I realized how little value even my relics are for elevation.

The regular topps this year im quite happy with it. thats prob what ill stick with for the rest of the year. THe photo shoot autos are selling really well on ebay. There is a Marcus Williams currently at 147.49 Im curious to see how much an Adam Morrison one of those goes for.

I loved Topps this year. I bought a few retail blaster boxes, a few jumbo hobby packs at my shop, and a jumbo hobby box online. I put together a full set.

11-28-2006, 10:46 AM
yeah, I absolutely love this year's Topps. They have the best photos on them out of any product ever. And they also added Bird in and that really helped them. I'm doing the master set and only need the variation RCs and some inserts now. :)

11-28-2006, 02:17 PM
I think I'll look into that. What kind of hits does Topps offer per box?

11-28-2006, 02:19 PM
Those photoshoot autos sell crazy high! The Morrison goes over $500...almost all go over $100 but there is a $80 BIN for a Craig Smith...They have all kinds of inserts and a lot of variations...10 draft day RCs, plus like over 30 other RCs, autos, GU of Wade/AI/Shaq/Paul/etc....VERY nice inserts...just ask about more info if you want it...

WOW thanks man!, id like a list of all the photo shoot rookie autos(singles doubles triples etc and all the regular autos like marks of excellence as well.

Oh and we didnt even mention the gold cards (# to 500) and the black cards #'ed to 99. im hooked on the golds.

i have all the base now except a couple rookie variations i think and I also agree with the photos being really awesome.

the bird golds are gonna continue to go up since there are a TON of die hard bird collectors looking to get the 33 card set. I got one bird gold im gonna try to deal for some base golds eventually.
