Upper Deck Basketball Unveils New Regional Sets; Exclusive East & West Versions

One Autograph, Two Memorabilia Cards per Box

Carlsbad, CA – (August 28, 2007) – Just like the top players to ever play the game, Michael Jordan, LeBron James and Kobe Bryant, Upper Deck (UD) never sits idly by. Upper Deck is constantly striving to deliver the best trading cards on the market. This season, Upper Deck Basketball adds to its already strong game with new East and West versions. Upper Deck Basketball will be available the first week of October.

The East packs will contain exclusive Michael Jordan NBA Heroes cards and the West packs will have exclusive Kevin Durant NBA Heroes cards. Additionally, there will be East and West All-Star die-cut cards.

“We really felt this was a great year to try something new, and providing regional content provides both local favorite players and cards to chase from the other version,” commented Chris Kollmeyer, Associate Basketball Brand Manager for Upper Deck.

The 2007-08 offering of UD Basketball (SRP $4.99) contains the unique gems collectors have come to expect and also new wrinkles: rich action photography; the best players in the game; large in-depth card set to collect; a larger pack of cards; and new this year, the Rookie Debut Signatures cards, which were produced and signed at the 2007 NBA Rookie Photo Shoot in late July. UD Basketball now contains a whopping15 cards per hobby pack. In addition, UD has included Hobby Predictor cards. Anyone who collects the actual Rookie of the Year (ROY) or the Most Valuable Player (MVP) will win press plates (four versions) that were used to make one of the base cards or Star Rookie cards (42 of the top rookies).

“We’ve expanded the quantity of cards in the pack across our Upper Deck hobby lineup and collectors have responded positively,” said Bill Beaman, Associate Product Manager for Upper Deck. “The Hobby Predictor cards have always been very popular and we wanted to bring them back. Collectors really like getting something unique that was used to build products.”
