Thanks in advance for any help.

I believe that I may also send to those guys. I just got to try and find a photo of them. Good luck druce. I gotta start working on older players as well.

Roberts signs if you make a donation to BAT. I've gotten him a couple of times, and a 10 dollar check does the trick. I plan on writing everyone before sending the photo, just to get permission, and to verify these are the addresses because this isn't something I want to lose. I'll probably throw 10 bucks in for each guy as well, for their time. I'll keep everyone posted, and thanks for all of the help!

try jim bunning. I got a custom signed by him a few months back. Didnt take long either, but I also have heard that people didnt get theirs back as well.

LMK how you fare

I tried him twice and got the form letter. I don't need him for this project anyway, but I may try again anyway.

I have heard that many people have gotten back a generic response. I must have hit at the right time or maybe he has a ghost writer

My first update, and it's a good one. I sent letters out to Mayo, Stuffel, Caballero and Miller last Saturday, requesting their permission to send them my photo, and explaining that I'd be more than happy to send money for their time.
The first came back this Saturday from Jackie Mayo, Who wrote, "OK, No Problem, and don't send Money". I'll give him 10 bucks anyway.
Two more cam back today. The first was from Paul Stuffel, who wrote, "Yes, I'd be very happy to sign your picture." He corrected his address as
25786 Buttercup Ct
Bonita Springs, Fl
Last but not least was from Ralph Caballero, who wrote, "He'd be glad to." He corrected his address as:
6773 Milne Blvd
New Orleans, La

This is great, I'm still waiting on a response from Bob Miller, but either way, this is going well. Thanks again to Maple19 for the tips, you are the best!! I'll be mailing my first attempt out to Jackie Mayo on Thursday, I'll posts all updates,

I got my letter back from Bob Miller today. He said he'd be happy to sign it. He also updated his address. It's"
1202 Andover Cr. Dr.
Commerce Twp, Mi
I sent the photo out to Jackie Mayo yesterday, so I'll post an update as soon as I get that back. I'll make sure to post a pic of it too, so everyone can see how it's coming along. Thanks again guys,

I got Jackie Mayo back today. He did return my money, which was nice of him. He also signed the photo. Unfortunately, he signed it in blue ink pen, and it is difficult to see. It's a shame, you have to squint to see it, but it's a sharp signature. I'll be sending a blue sharpie out with the rest of my requests. I'm dropping it off to Putsy Caballero on tonight, wish me luck!

some of the old guys still use the ink pens and you get back a so so auto. Its still nice of them to autograph though.

I got out an ed bouchee, and a bob miller. Still trying to find a photo of putsy caballero.

will show my results when I get them back.

Im sure the holidays are slowing the mail, and also thr response time of the players. Just have to be patient.

I got Mr Caballero back today. He signed it nicely over his photo and included "1950" Whiz Kids". It looks nice and only took ten days. I did use the New Orleans Address. I'm off to Bob Miller next.

I sent out to Bob Miller today, and sent a request to send to Lopata, as well. I'll keep you guys posted.

Looks good!

That is a great photo of the team. I wonder where you got something like that? Wonder if you could contact the Phillies organization or something?

I got back a Jim Miller just today after I had seen your post. He signed a 5x7 photo that I shopped. Thanks for the addy and good luck on your quest!

Cheap! WOW

01-08-2009, 02:10 PM
I sent a letter to Mr Lopata last week asking him permission to sign my photo. Today I received my SASE back with a signed Lopata Diamond signature card, so I'm guessing that is a yes. I'm still waiting to get my photo back from Bob Miller, which I sent out on 12-29, then I'll send off to Stuffel and Lopata. I'll keep you guys posted,

I got Bob Miller back today. He signed it in black sharpie and included his number and "1950 Whiz Kids" He also wrote me a little note. What a nice guy. I included 10 bucks, and I'm off to Paul Stuffel next,

01-23-2009, 05:28 PM
I just got home from a hard day of work, and there it was, my envelope. Paul Stuffel signed my photo in black sharpie(on a dark park of the picture, beggars can't be choosers). He also returned my check, voided. That's it boys, the home stretch. I'll be mailing out to the last living member I need, Stan Lopata, on Monday. I'll post my final result, and update my picture when I get it back. As always, thanks for the help Maple19!!!!!!!!

Well, I just crossed the Finish Line. Stan Lopata came back today. The whole Process took me about 75 days and cost me about 70 dollars total. I'd like to thank all who helped, and I have a link to the finished product here: http://s385.photobucket.com/albums/oo299/druce26/?action=view&current=2-9004.jpge

Very nice, and done in less than 3 mos??? Very cool. I would think 70 bucks isnt that much to get something like that signed by everyone.

How many sigs were on that one??? I forgot to count.
