During this past Summer I decided to try to get as many of my Desert Storm cards autographed as possible. I had previously gotten a card signed by Gen.Colin Powell and former secretary of state James Baker. I still had 300+ un-signed Desert Storm cards and they were mostly just taking up space. It was interesting to read the information on the back of them and learn a bit about the war, but that was pretty much it.

Then one day while I was looking around online for information about other kinds of people that sign autographs, I came across a website where a lady had gotten a couple Desert Storm cards autographed by Gen.Tommy Franks. Gen.Franks served in the military for a long time and late in his career he led the Army into Afghanistan to fight the Taliban and hunt for Osama Bin Laden. After that, he led the Army into Iraq in 2003 to remove Iraqi president Saddam Hussein from power and search for weapons of mass destruction.

When I found that out I quickly wrote Gen.Franks a letter and sent him a few cards for him to sign. That's when a light bulb went off in my head. I started thinking that instead of treating my Desert Storm cards like sports cards where I only send a card to the person that is on the card, Desert Storm cards are very generic and I can send them to any number of veterans or politicians that served during that time period!

I also thought to myself about how amazing it would be to look at a collection of hundreds/thousands of autographs of people that served in WWII or any other war. Each autograph is like a piece of history. But unlike an old coin, book, spoon etc.... Autographs kind of help to "preserve" a person. Someone signs an autograph, and if properly taken care of, the object that they personally touched and signed can live on forever and be seen and admired by countless numbers of people for many generations to come.

As I was thinking about all that, I realized that it's perfect. Most Desert Storm veterans are alive and very well. WWII veterans are dying at a rate of I think of 1,000+ each day, Korean war veterans are 80+, Vietnam veterans are 60+ and another thing is that even though there are still a lot of veterans from those wars that are still alive, most of the high ranking military personnel and government officials have long since died. Most of the Desert Storm veterans that have signed autographs for me had previously seen extensive combat in Vietnam early on in their military careers and those guys are 70-80+ years old, at least a handful of hi-ranking members of the military from Desert Storm have passed away in the last few years, and I'm sure it's going to sadly continue as they age.

But as they're getting "old", there are a lot of Desert Storm veterans that are in their mid 40's and 50's so they still have a very long life ahead of them which means that I have the chance to build a really big collection of their autographs if I continue to work hard at it like I currently am. But to be honest, I've mostly been sending cards out to veterans that retired as generals and admirals and after I get more of those, I'll start sending a lot more cards out to the other veterans that served then.

As I've been getting autographs from veterans, it has amazed me that some of them have even taken the time to write to me! Some wish me good luck with my Desert Storm collection, some write a little about their career and hobbies, and others give me good life advice. Some of them were once even the highest ranking uniformed people in the United States military!

The longer I've been collecting autographs, the more people I meet and the more help I get! A little while back I asked a friend from Russia if she knew anyone that served in the Russian military during the time that Desert Storm was going on because I had a Soviet Union card that I wanted to get signed, but former Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev never signed for me so I decided to find someone else. My friend told me that she knew someone, but instead of me sending her the card for the guy to sign, she printed out a picture and had the guy autograph it for me and she sent me the picture in the mail. The guy was an officer in the Russian army during the Soviet-Afghan war and earned two medals for his service there.

Before that, a fellow autograph collector contacted me about my collection, telling me that he had served in the United States Air Force for 25 years and that he'd sign a card for me, and try to get other Desert Storm veterans to sign for me if I sent him extra cards. Autograph collecting is an amazing hobby, and other collectors are very helpful and friendly.

For the future of my Desert Storm collection I would like to get autographs from more political figures, more hi-ranking military officers, foreign veterans, and lots of autographs from any veterans that served during that time in a military that was involved in the war on either side of the battle.

List of people that have signed Desert Storm cards for me:
-Sec. Of State James Baker
-Gen.Colin Powell
-Gen.Charles Horner
-Adm.Charles Abbot
-RADM.David Bill III
-Capt. John Gay
-Adm. Stanley Arthur
-Adm.William Fallon
-Gen.Tommy Franks
-Gen.John Abizaid
-Gen.Raymond Odierno
-Gen.Mastin Robeson
-Adm.Leighton Smith
-Gen.Henry Shelton
-Gen.Michael Hagee
-Capt.Chad Hennings
-Lt.Gen.Edgar R. Anderson Jr. M.D.
-Edward Allen (25 year USAF vet)
-Unknown (USAF vet)
-Don Young (congressman-AK)
-Jerry Jones (owner of Dallas Cowboys)

Have any of you ever sold any autographs to Todd Mueller, or to any other companies that buy/sell autographs?
I've been wondering for a while because I'm trying to downsize my autograph collection, so I can have more money for more important things, and so I can add to my PC's.

I've been slowly trying to sell some of my $1-$5 autographed cards on here and Instagram for cash, but since I don't have paypal, I don't want to sell more valuable autographs to regular people online and risk getting ripped off.

The first batch of autographs I'm trying to sell to a company are my multiples of some of my Desert Storm autographs (generals, admirals etc.) , my Donald Trump autographed picture since I don't really like any kind of politics, and it's probably the best time to sell, and other odds and ends like that. Later on I'll start selling some of my autographed pictures.

I'm not sure what kind of company would be willing to buy my autographed cards+Donald Trump picture and send me a check in the mail so I was wondering if you guys might have any ideas.

Through my searching I kept coming back to Todd Muellers autograph website, but it seems like a lot of people love him, a lot of people hate him, some accuse him of selling fake autographs, but I haven't heard anyone talk about their experience of actually selling their autograph collections to him.......:suspicious:

I've been looking at autograph websites and almost all of them either sell only hi-end autographs, or their prices seem way too low. At the moment I'm trying to sell my ttm autographed sports cards, and other autographed trading cards. Most of them are only worth a few dollars at the very most. I know that the companies that buy/sell autographs aren't going to be able to give my what I want, and I don't want to go the ebay route since I've never personally used ebay, and I want to sell them quick.

When I've bought non-autographed cards through the card cash store on this site, the cards were always shipped to me inside of a toploader placed inside of a small envelope, sometimes after being placed inside of a small piece of paper first. Do you think that that would be a good way for me to sell cards for $1-$3? Or should I ship them differently?

I'm probably going to try selling them on Instagram first.

I have never sold any of my autographs before, but I'm planning on selling some to a guy in Colorado very soon (I live in Alaska). I ordered some small pre-paid priority mail flat-rate boxes from the USPS website. I'd like to put the autographs inside along with some protection, and then tape the closing flaps after removing the sticker from the adhesive that's on there for extra security, and also tape the seams to help protect it from possibly opening if/when it gets tossed around. But..... I've read some stories online about postal workers whining about people adding tape to their boxes, or even because they didn't use the tape from the post office. What are your experiences with using these boxes? Positive/Negative?

I'm hoping to schedule a pickup later this week so the mailman can pick it up when he's on my route, so I won't have to waste time going to the post office if I can.

I enjoy collecting autographs, and have mostly collected them from athletes, celebrities and politicians, but I now want to try to put more time, effort and focus into getting more military autographs. I have hundreds of Desert Storm trading cards I would like to get autographed, so that's going to be my main focus for now, but I will add other kinds of military autographs to my collection too.

During the past couple years I have gotten a Desert Storm card autographed by Gen.Colin Powell and one signed by for secretary of state, James Baker. During the past 1-2 months, I've gotten them from a few other's including Gen.Tommy Franks, and Adm.Charles Abbot. That has really motivated me to branch off from traditional autographs, and into the military autograph realm.

As I was doing some thinking, I thought about how cool it would be if someone collected military autographs from a war like World War II. It would be amazing to look at a collection of autographs from military leaders, and regular military personnel from that time period. It would be a interesting piece of history.

So instead of just getting autographs from high ranking people from Desert Storm, I'm going to try to get autographs from as many Desert Storm veterans as I possibly can. So if you or someone you know served in the military during 1990-1991, and would be willing to autograph a card for me, please contact me. If you flew airplanes, I'll send you an airplane card, if you were the man/woman that put fuel in tanks, during the war, I'll send you a card of that that tank to sign, and so on. It doesn't matter what your job was, I'm interested in getting your autograph! I'll send 1 or more cards, and a self-addressed stamped envelope, so all you would need to do is sign the card with a permanent marker, maybe blow on it for a couple seconds so it won't smear, put it inside of the smaller envelope which will already have my mailing address and stamp on it, remove the pull tab, press it shut, and send it in the mail when you have the time.

I received an envelope from a singer from Europe named Marcia Barrett. When I opened the envelope there was two autographed pictures inside. One of them was personalized to me, and the other was personalized to a Mr.Bill Clinton......yes that one!

Luckily Ms.Barrett also included a handwritten note along with the autographs. She thanked me for being a fan and said that her and her husband Marcus admire former U.S. president Bill Clinton, and that she wanted me to send the autograph to his office for him. So that's exactly what I'm going to do later today!

Has anything this odd ever happened to any of you before?
Hector Noesi is just an average/below average pitcher that gets tossed around between teams, and Kershaw is the perennial Cy Young award winner........ So I was wondering what the card might possibly be worth? I know that it would probably be worth a lot more if it was on another good players card, so that's where I hesitated and decided not to jump on it and buy it right away last night.

What do you think the value of the card would be? Would collectors be interested, or would they just buy a Clayton Kershaw autographed card instead?

First of all, I'm 21 years old, so I don't have tons of money to invest in my collection at the moment, and my collection so far isn't very big. I mostly have ttm autos, and autos I've gotten through online request. I love autos and sports cards, but I'd like to try to narrow down my collection instead of trying to collect everything that looks nice.

New York Yankees (my favorite baseball team)
Benchwarmers model cards
Aaron Hernandez autos/jersey cards
Richard Petty race used cards
Alaskan Athletes: Mario Chalmers, Carlo Boozer, Scotty Gomez, Curt Schilling, Trajan Langdon
Note: Carlos Boozer was born on a military base in Germany but was raised in Alaska, Trajan Langdon was born in California, but moved to Alaska when he was little where his dad work(s) as a professor.

And anything else that catches my eye......

But my main problem is that most Yankees don't sign TTM, I only have 4 Yankee autos so far:
-Danny Tartabull
-Ken Phelps
-David Robertson
-Andy Pettitte

Plus the Yankees are probably the most popular team too. So I've been thinking about what I should collect. I've been thinking that maybe I should put together an "All-Steroids Team" and collect those players. I know it probably sounds kind of odd, but I was born in 1992, so I grew up watching Canseco, Bonds, Sosa, McGwire, Giambi....etc..... and I think it would also be kind of funny to see a bunch of "WWE" looking players every time I look at my collection, and it's also a BIG part of MLB history, with so many great players either admitting, or being linked to steroids, or other performance enhancing substances.:fighting0056:

So I was hoping that some of you would post a list of players that you think should be part of the "All-Steroids Team", then I'll go through all the names and choose the ones I'd like to start collecting.

Autograph/GU Cards Buying Questions

So far, I’ve gotten 1 in person autograph way back in 2004, and 500+ autographs TTM since I became addicted to collecting autographs less than 2 years ago.

I haven’t bought any autographs yet because I could use that money to try to get a bunch of sports cards autographed and stuff like that. But I’ve been thinking about my collection a lot lately, and it feels a little “strange”, because there’s no real direction to it, it’s just a collection of all different kinds of autographs from anyone that will sign them for me. That’s great and all and I appreciate every single autograph I get, but I won an autographed baseball a few days ago and I’ve been really excited about that.

So today I was looking online at autographs $50 and under and found many that I liked……..but I don’t want to start buying balls, hockey pucks, or other memorabilia……and find out later on that they were all signed by some forger signing autos in his parents basement or something…… so I was wondering what the most trustworthy sites are?

I’ve also seen a lot of nice game used cards on Ebay, but I’ve never used Ebay before. When I shop online I always use a debit card, and don’t have paypal. Most Ebay sales have the paypal payment symbol.

I’ve bought some outdoor equipment online……with my debit card and it might have been through paypal……I know that’s confusing, but I was wondering if you can use a debit card through paypal…..even if you don’t have paypal?

Any help with my questions would be GREATLY appreciated!
