Karine's Thoughts

In a nutshell, things I find interesting these days and happenings in our card collecting community!

  1. To buy or not to buy...

Alright so, I'm a player collector, Roy, Price and Brodeur these are the guys I collect. When I buy a box, they are the ones I am after. Why then do I not just buy their singles on eBay and make sure I get exactly what I want? Well, I can only see one reason...I'm ashamed but I have to admit it...I am addicted to busting boxes.

A box seller we all know very well is currently looking through his books for the last year and he mentioned how much I spent in 2008 and well let's just say ...

  2. If you moved to another country, what would you miss the most?

Think about it, it's not an easy question to answer...6 years after moving over here from Canada there is one thing I still miss just as much as I did on day 1: My favorite sports on television and going to see matches at the Bell Centre. Don't get me wrong I did get used to football (yes I mean soccer) but it's really not the same...

Thankfully, last week, we finally had a satellite dish installed and this means one thing: NASN! North American Sports Network That's right, ...

  3. The new issue of Collector's Corner is here!

Another month, another issue of the SCF magazine. You can read it here: http://www.myvirtualpaper.com/doc/sp...on/2009010501/

This month, I must say that the contest is a bit on the hockey heavy side. I wonder why we seem to get a lot more hockey articles than any other sport...do hockey collectors like writing more? Perhaps...after all the writing team is formed exclusively of hockey collectors...If you read this and you would like to try your hand at writing ...

  4. Superlative Bleu, Blanc et Rouge - Details

In the same line of thoughts, a big part of the January excitement will come from the release of ITG's Superlative Bleu, Blanc et Rouge. Just like last year's Superlative this is a rather limited set but instead of 3000 books of 7 cards, there are only 1000 books. What else is so special about it? Well, as indicated by the name of the set, it is entirely dedicated to the Montreal Canadiens who are celebrating their 100th anniversary this year.

I got confirmation today that I will ...

  5. An Exciting Month Ahead!

Why you ask? Well, the likelihood is you know that I'm a Habs fan, with that in mind think about the upcoming card releases...

That's right UD's Montreal Canadiens Set and ITG Superlative Bleu, Blanc, Rouge are both due for realease this month. To be frank I am a bit worried about being able to get my hands on these products being all the way over here in good old England but we shall see...

Anyways, sort of related to the topic; kudos to Coolhandluke who has been working ...
