  1. It may be time to reschedule the WBC

The post-WBC injury bug struck again earlier this week, as two more players who took part in the March tournament went on the disabled list.

Boston pitcher Daisuke Matsuzaka is back on the DL for the 2nd time this season. As was the case in April, "Dice-K" is suffering from shoulder issues related to his MVP performance for his native Japan in the WBC. The Red Sox, however, aren't sweating his absence this time, as John Smoltz, acquired from Atlanta in the off-season, is ...

  2. A little out of his league

WWE's ratings are down. Nothing new there, but the decision on 6/15 to have Donald Trump return as "owner" of Monday Night Raw is a real head-scratcher.

2 years ago, Trump was brought in for a winter feud with Vince McMahon culminating in McMahon having his head shaved at Wrestlemania 23. NBC-Universal, USA Network's corporate parent, prevailed upon both parties to work together, going so far as to have McMahon appear on "The Apprentice". The idea, clearly, was ...

  3. A little bit of this & that

Tommy Dreamer, the last "ECW Original" on the current WWE roster, won the ECW championship Sunday at Extreme Rules. Now, not surprisingly, there are rumors that Dreamer (real name: Tom Loughlin, not to be confused with the "Billy Jack" actor of the same name) has signed a new deal with WWE, which set the wheels in motion. I had envisioned Dreamer winning, then retiring that same night, like Trish Stratus did at Unforgiven '06. That may still happen, depending on what unfolds ...

  4. Reality gets the last laugh

PT Barnum once said that "a sucker is born every minute". Apparently, not enough of them were watching Monday Night Raw from Los Angeles on Memorial Day.

Determined to embarass the NBA at all costs, WWE owner Vince McMahon hired actors to impersonate NBA commissioner David Stern, Lakers owner Jerry Buss, and movie legend/Lakers superfan Jack Nicholson, and local ring announcer Troy Stone was recruited to masquerade as Denver Nuggets owner E. (for Enos) Stanley Kroenke. ...

  5. Does it come down to priority?

The Denver Nuggets' Cinderella run to the Western Conference finals caught their owner, Stan Kroenke, by surprise. It has also forced WWE's "Monday Night Raw" out of the Pepsi Center in Denver to make room for Game 4 between Denver and the LA Lakers on Memorial Day. WWE responded by moving the May 26 ECW/Smackdown card out of the World Arena in Colorado Springs---even though it was still advertised for Colorado Springs during the 5/19 ECW broadcast---and moving all of their television ...
