A bad time for a brain cramp.

I was about 15 years old in 1960 and I was on a train in Canada. My parents and I had taken a night train out of Windsor Ontario enroute to Bellville Ontario. Some time after midnight we had to change trains in Toronto and continue east to Bellville. We had just settled in to our seats and I was on the isle faceing the front door of the coach. I was about to take out a book and read until I went to sleep when I woke up fast. Through the front door of the coach came Bobby Hull! I froze, I could not talk, I actually thought I was allready asleep. If I could not say anything I could do something, I poked an elbow in to my fathers ribs. "What" he said "Bobby Hull" I said pointing to my left. "Are you sure?" he said, I just looked at him, he knew I was sure. Then my dad did what I never expected, he got up steped across the isle, shook hands with Hull and sat down next to him. Then started stories about hockey players and games, and travels to other countrys, and the things he had seen. Bobby and my dad went on and on, like old friends. I got in a word from time to time but not much. A news butcher came through the car and Bobby was disapointed that he did not have more food. Of course my mother had packed a bag of chicken sandwiches for our trip. She took out my sandwich and gave it to Bobby. Heros are fine but when it came to food, well I begain a protest. My mother said "you have had enough to eat." end of protest, Bobby ate my sandwich. When the news butcher came back he did buy me a Coke. It was the fastest four hours I had ever spent we were rolling into Bellville. We got off the train and Bobby got off at Bellville too, we shook hands, I thanked him for the Coke, and we went on our way. When I returned to Detroit I told my best friend Robert about all this. He said "Did you get his autograph?" That's when it hit me, what an idiot I had been, I must have been in shock the whole four hours. I still have not forgotten my error. Some day I will find Bobby Hull again, and I will get that autograph, and more, he owes me a sandwich.
