Where will the hobby be in 20 years? Prize for best answer!

Rate this Entry
Being that i am only 19 years old, i have no clue what collecting was like 10-15 years ago. All i can do is read the "older" guys blogs about what the hype was like back in 1989 or 1995 etc.. Though i do know it has come a LONG way from just 10 years ago let along 20 years. I remember about 4 or 5 years ago when i got into collecting big time, pulling that jersey card was huge. Im sure it was for everyone at some point. Now we all get ticked off when we pull that stupid single swatch of some mediocre player. Now it is all about the high end logo man on card 1/1 auto. Thats why in my opinion, products like prestige and threads better change real fast, because i know a lot of people are getting real fed up with pulling that singal jersey card in a $90 box. But, my question is, what will the hobby be like in 20 years? Will our hobby even be around? Which companies will still be in business? Are we going to see 2030 Topps Triple Threads or 2030 exquisite? Eventually I think the companies are going to have to come up with something different. Im not saying get rid of memorabilia cards, but there is going to have to be something new. UD started going down the right path with the shadowbox card. Thats a good start, but they have to keep moving foward. So leave a comment about what you think will happen or some ideas for the future. In honor of this debate, i will provide a prize to the best answer i choose (must be at least 10 responses). The prize will be one memorabilia or auto card (choices TBD after i pick winner). So leave your response!!
