If you don't know what you have or don't know it's value – don't sell it !

Another one of those touchy subjects by a member of a forum I belong to so I thought I'd voice in on. I've mentioned it before but I'll say it again IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU HAVE OR DON'T KNOW IT'S VALUE – DON'T SELL IT !
I cannot tell you the hundreds of stories I've heard and seen first hand from people losing thousands of dollars because of crooks taking their items for a fraction of their value. I've caught guys doing this and been threatened by them because I told guys not to sell their stuff that cheap.
A seven hundred dollar Gordie Howe card taken from a young guy for fifteen bucks by a flea market scammer. The young guy didn't know the value of the cards he had and the flea market guy knew he had a pigeon. Sadly this happens all the time.
My advice is simple and I'll repeat it. If you have something and don't know its value and you can't find someone you trust to help ASK ME. I'll tell you what it is, what its current book value is and what you can expect to get for selling it.
Now that being said if you have cards that are older than 1990 you start to get into condition price variances. Is the card creased, does it have worn corners, is it centered, does it still have the factory color and gloss and the biggie for some more expensive rookie cards – is it real or fake. In these cases I may not be able to give you a ball park price because some of these things need to be seen and you may need to send me a quality scan or picture.
Hopefully those reading this are spared from being screwed or ripped off by a greedy hobby crook.
Happy collecting and feel free to contact me if you have questions or concerns.
