I’m back! Philly was nice!

Alexei Leonov (7/19/2019): Mega success!! This one was the first letter I ever mailed out internationally (mailed to Moscow), so I’m glad this came back! He even sent me a 2014 Topps Heritage card back. I didn’t even know there was a card of him! Glad to know I didn’t spend 45 minutes translating/writing a letter in Russian for nothing!

Bill Belichick (7/22/2019): Forgot I sent this one out back in December. I also got a signed letter back. My dad is a Dolphins fan, so I got to sleep outside for the first time in my life! (JOKE)

Bobby Richardson (7/22/2019): Nice! The only WS MVP from the losing team! My card did get damaged though. He has a really nice autograph!

Mike McCormick (7/22/2019): Im kinda bummed on this one, because I didn’t get the card I sent back. I sent him a 1961T and got a 1971T back. The autograph was also a bit... everywhere, but I can’t complain, at least he signed!

Paul Hornung (7/24/2019): Everything comes full circle! He was the first success, and now I finally have a Notre Dame card signed too! He also signed my answer sheet!

Bobby Brown (7/25/2019): Nice! He played with Joe DiMaggio AND Mickey Mantle, and it’s awesome that he’s still signing at 94! He was also the AL president for a while.

Jim Lonborg (7/26/2019): Cool! The Cy Young winners collection grows!

Lenny Wilkens (7/26/2019): Nice! Kinda bummed he didn’t actually sign, but now that I think about it, I paid him $2 to write his favorite play, not to sign. At least he did that. His favorite play is “Basic”. Here’s a photo.

Phil Coyne (7/29/2019): Awesome! My first A&G card I’ve ever gotten signed! He added a “101” inscription and wrote “Ian, Thanks for caring! Phil” on the back! Super nice guy!

Mike Schmidt (7/29/2019): WOOOO!! The day after I got back from Philly too! I went to a Phillies game while I was there. I mentioned that in the letter. I got a picture of the Mike Schmidt statue outside the stadium, so that was perfect timing!

Dub Jones (7/29/2019): Nice!! He holds the (tied) NFL record for most points scored in a game by a player at 36! He also played with the early Browns (1948-1955), so I’d suggest sending to him if you wanna learn about the early Browns from someone who played with them! He also answered all 5 of my questions!

1) What was football like in the 1940s?
Same - Run, Hit - Pass - It was a back log of the war years - 41,42,43,44,45.

2) What was it like to play in the AAFC?
I was 1st draft choice in 1946 with a salary of $12,000.00.

3) Do you think you’ll ever have a chance at the HOF?
No

4) What was it like to play for Paul Brown?
Great - Fair - Smart - Made right decisions.

5) What was it like to play with so many legends (ex. Otto Graham, Dante Lavelli, Bill Willis, etc.)?
Great - We always knew that Otto could and would make “the play”! I played with 18 first-generation Americans and five Black-Americans - All friends.
