Atlanta Thrashers

January 29, 2009: Ner York Islanders

Rate this Entry
Well, after the shutout from the Stars, the Thrashers sure didnt start well on Thursday.

The first period began with a quick goal at 0:55 by T. Hunter (NY), his 12th on the season to quickly make it 1-0 Islanders. Then, K. Okposo (NY) scored his 8th goal on the year at 7:29 to make it 2-0 New York. The Thrashers just couldnt do anything right, or hardly get a shot on the goal. The third goal of the game came at 10:25 by T. Jackman (NY), giving him his 3rd on the year and making it 3-0 Islanders. Rouding out the scoring in the first was a goal by D. Weight (NY), his 8th on the season at 13:17 in the first.

There was no scoring in the second, just good ole' stale hockey.

The third period was VERY exciting for the Thrashers. The first Thrashers goal came by Z. Bogosian (ATL), his 3rd on the season at 0:26 in the period, cutting it to 4-1 New York. Then at 6:20, R. Peverley (ATL) scored his 5th on the season making it 4-2 Islanders. Next, M. Reasoner (ATL) scored his 8th on the season at 8:36 to cut it to only a 1 goal game to make it 4-3. However, in the 12th minute, K. Okposo (NY) scored his 2nd goal of the game, his 9th on the season at 12:39, to make it 5-3 Islanders with time running out. Then, at 19:02, I. Kovalchuk (ATL) scored his 21st on the year to cut it once again to 5-4. However, the clock ran out before the Thrashers could score the tying goal to send it into overtime.

Collector Summary:
Zach Bogosian: 1G, 1P, 16:17 on ice, 1 shot, 1 blocked shot

Jim Slater: rehab
