Karine's Thoughts

The Nationals July 29th to August 2nd 2009

I'm not ashamed to admit it but I've never ever been to a single card show...When I was collecting as a kid in Quebec I wasnt aware that those even existed so going to the flea market was as exciting as things got card collecting wise and well, since i've started again in 2006, I am plagued by geographical restrictions...

However, it is looking increasingly likely that I will be able to make it to Cleveland this summer for the National Sports Collector Convention . Of course, I am incredibly excited about what I could potentially find there Roy and Brodeur wise but I'm also thinking about all the potential articles that this could generate for the SCF magazine...

This is where I need your help fellow collectors! What would you like to know about the Nationals? What would you like to read? If you were there, which companies would you be most interested to see the booth of?

Please post your comments and suggestions here as I am already thinking about what to cover when i get there this summer!

Karine you should def do an article about what it's like to go to a card show for the first time already being a collector, I unfortunatly am in the same boat!

A little on the availability of some the rarer inserts and variation cards from the last couple years, especially the Wal Mart variations from 2007 Topps and what they are wanting for them.
Also are there much stuff for team collectors (other than Indians which goes without saying).

I wish I could attend a National but finances most likely will not permit.

Anyways good luck at the show.

the unique stuff you see, people that are selling fake stuff and are they making money there by doing it, im not sure sorry if those ideas are dumb, ohh and best card and piece of memorabilia you saw, and prices on cheap boxes if there is such a thing

I would be curious, as I have not been able to make it to the National, the difference in what is available and prices compared to say ebay. I would love to make it to a national one day, but is it really worth it? Would I be able to find things there that I would not be able to find on ebay? Would the prices compare? etc.
