Rate this Entry
The Boston Celtics won their 29th game of the season, and 18th at home, last night against the Washington Wizards, by a final score of 108-83. The Celtics were able to begin the game strong, and continued to play exceptionally well throughout all four quarters.

By the end of the first quarter, Boston was up by double the score of the Wizards, 28-14. Halftime wasn't much different, with the Celtics on top 58-34. By the end of the 3rd quarter, Boston had built their lead to 31, leading 86-55. Celtics coach Doc Rivers then decided to rest the starters for the remainder of the game. The bench players played the entire 4th quarter, and were outscored by only 6 points.

Boston had 6 players score in double digits, while Washington only had 2 score at least 10 points. Leading the way for Boston was Paul Pierce, with 26 points on 9/10 shooting, including an incredible 5/6 on 3-pointers! Ray Allen and Eddie House each scored 11, while Tony Allen, Kevin Garnett and Rajon Rondo each scored 10. Rondo also added 14 assists. And, not to be outdone, Kendrick Perkins pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds to go with his 9 points.

Washington's high scorers were Nick Young with 15, and Antawn Jamison with 14 points and 9 rebounds.

The next game for the Celtics comes on Sunday, January 4th, at the New York Knicks.
