Rate this Entry
Every hockey fan knows that every once in a while, there is one of those high scoring games. Well, this was certainly one of those.

The games first goal was scored on a Florida penalty shot by M. Frolik (FLA) at 9:50 for his 9th goal on the season, giving the Panthers the lead 1-0. A couple minutes later, C. Armstrong (ATL) scored his 12th goal on the season at 12:53 to tie the game at 1-1. Then at 18:24, J. Bouwmeester (FLA) scored his scored his 8th goal on the season at even strength to give the Panthers the lead once again at 2-1. Then suddenly, only a few seconds before the horn sounded, R. Dvorak (FLA) scored his 7th goal of the season at 19:49 to tack on an extra goal for the Panthers to give them the 2 goal lead at 3-1.

The second period began with excitement when T. White (ATL) scored his 13th goal on the year at 3:53 on the Atlanta powerplay to cut the lead to 3-2 Florida. There wasnt much more excitement that period until 13 minutes later when E. Christensen (ATL) scored at 16:26 his 3rd goal on the year to tie the game at the second intermission at 3-3.

After the intermission, Florida came of on fire as V. Peltonen (FLA) scored his 7th of the year at 1:34 to give the Panthers the early lead 4-3. Then a little over a minute later, at 2:42, C. Stillman (FLA) scored his 9th on the season to move the lead up again to 5-3 Florida. Then at 7:05, Florida added yet another goal by D. Booth (FLA), his 18th on the year to move it up again to 6-3. At 12:01, another goal came by V. Peltonen (FLA), his 8th on the year to move it even more to 7-3. Finally, at 13:25, the Thrashers showed a little life as I. Kovalchuk (ATL) scored his 16th on the year to cut the lead slightly to 7-4. To wrap up the game, Florida got the Kovalchuk goal back at 14:56 by a N. Horton (FLA) goal, his 12th on the year. The final score being 8-4 Florida.

By looking at the goals scord by Florida, it isnt hard to determine the shear lack of defense and goaltending by Atlanta. All of Floridas goal came at even strength, with the exception of the first goal on the penalty shot.

The Thrashers fell to 14-24 on the year, with their next game coming Wednesday at home against the Ottawa Senators.

Collector Summary:
