Maybe this post will show my age, but Canada used to produce elite goalies, Patrick Roy, Martin Brodeur, Roberto Luongo, Carey Price to name just a few. I don’t want to take away from Binnington, he did a fine job in the Olympics, he didn’t lose them the game, but he also didn’t win them the game. And Binnington shows up for Big games, and isn’t always there for every day games.

I am trying to work on a collection of the “Golden Goalie” those that played in the Gold Medal game in the Olympics, and won (Canadian only).

Anyone know why we stopped producing elite Goaltending? Does anyone think there is someone coming up who may be the future?

Everyone will be chasing the Schaefer YG of course. First time since Tavares in 2008 that an Islanders YG has been the chase rookie.

Some other pretty cool cards to be found of course.

The checklist is here: https://www.beckett.com/news/2025-26...-hockey-cards/

What are you chasing?

I'll be trying to land a Demidov Canvas YG, the Caufield Celebration SSP Variant, and probably the Beliveau Canvas. I think this is 3rd or 4th time they've had him in there now.

San Jose received Craig Rivet

Montreal received Josh Gorges and a 2007 1st Round Pick, which became Max Pacioretty.

The trade sparked a pretty significant PC for me. As a Kelowna kid, I was so psyched that the guy who captained the Kelowna Rockets to the 2004 Memorial Cup was going to be a Montreal Canadien.

Max Pacioretty would eventually be dealt to Vegas in exchange for Tomas Tatar, a 2019 2nd round pick, and Nick Suzuki.

19 years later (man, time flies!) and this trade is still paying dividends for the Habs and probably will for another ten years!

The trade tree for this one is legendary.

Jack Hughes hit the golden goal for the United States in a sensational overtime 2-1 victory against Canada to clinch gold at the Winter Olympics in Italy.

Hughes, who appeared lose teeth from an incident in the third quarter, scored 1:41 into overtime to spark pandemonium in Milan and all across the United States. It is the country's first gold in men's hockey since the 'Miracle on Ice' in 1980 and 46 years to the day since that win over the Soviet Union.

As Donald Trump took to Truth Social to praise the team for winning gold, an emotional Hughes said seconds after his goal: 'This is all about our country right now. I love the USA. I'm so proud to be American today. I love my country, I love my teammates.

'That's American hockey right there. That's a great Canadian team but this means so much. We are such a team. The USA brotherhood in this team is so strong, so much support from ex-players. I cannot believe this. It could have gone either way tonight.'

Hughes will go down in history as the man who won it but the USA would have lost this game if it wasn't for an extraordinary performance by goalie Connor Hellebuyck, who saved 41 of the 42 shots fired at him.

'He was our best player tonight by a mile,' Hughes said, and there won't be anyone who disagrees. 'Unbelievable game. Just a ballsy, gutsy win.'

Hughes, who is rumored to be dating Canadian pop star Tate McRae, also paid a gnarly price for his medal. He lost nearly all of a front tooth after getting struck in the face in the third quarter and blood was still coming from his mouth during his post-game celebrations.

Another insert set that is giving me a hard time. Team Pinnacle cards from 1997/98.

There are 2 versions listed, Team Pinnacle Foil and Team Pinnacle Mirror. Also available as finish front or back.

I bought some thinking I was getting 1 of each, front and back, 4 cards total. But the pairs look identical, just a foil/mirror finish on one side. Thought the Foil were darker and the Mirror were brighter but I honestly can't tell what I have. Think I just have the Foil.

Foil are listed as 1:99 inserts, Mirror no odds but based on sales history they look to be quite rare - generally. Or is there a third version that is a Mirror Refractor that is not listed? Seeing things about a very rare version.

I am lost, could use some help, pics to show, any stories to help me out?

Thanks, Toby.

I won a $9.00 card. Paid $13 shipping. Card was delivered by UPS who charged me the tariff fee and a whopping "carrier service fee" of $30. I knew there would be a service fee, but didn't think it would be that much
I am definitely looking for US based sellers now, more than ever.
Has anyone else changed their buying habits because of the tariffs?
