Goalie Collectors

  1. 56Parkies
Going through the groups and not ONE for people who collect goalies? Absurd. Hopefully we can get a bunch of people in here talking about their goalie collections!

So does anyone collect game-worn memorabilia? What do you DO with the pads, gloves, blockers etc? I mean, how do you display it? I can figure out how to frame up a jersey, or mount a stick on a wall, but I'm not sure what I'd do with a set of pads or a glove/blocker combo for a nice display.. Any suggestions (and maybe by the time I track one down, I can use these ideas!)

well , until i find a house with a bigger basement my almost complete Felix Potvin game used gear will stay in boxes , so far I have the pants , jersey , stick , pads , glove , skates , sox , and my pride and joy the game used autographed Mask and the only thing I am missing is the blocker

Very cool -- are these all with the Leafs or one team? Or are they from various teams throughout his career?
  5. potvinZcat
they are all from the leafs , and have a game used jersey from boston vancouver and LA kings and only missing an islanders Game used jersey

Very cool. I'm just now getting into the game-used arena, and it's certainly tougher now that Osgood has retired. Shame I didn't get into it when he was still playing, as getting game worn items were certainly easier, plus likely cheaper!

hey great group! thanks for the invite! it would be nice to talk goalies in this awesome hobby :)
  8. 56Parkies
I noticed the groups before, but since there were no groups specifically for goalie fans, I'd fire one up! The trick is to think of all the goalie fans out there so I just went with those of you that I knew were as crazy as me.. ;-)
  9. creasecollector
So any of you play goal? Or your only attachment to goalies is that you just collect them? I myself am a goalie :) therefore I am as crazy as you parkies ;)
  10. 56Parkies
ha ha, no.. I don't play goal. Just my cousin does; I'm just a fan!

I don't play, but I am a huge collector of Terry Sawchuk. It's nice to talk to other goalie collectors out there.

Glad to see more goalie collectors joining! I am sure I forgot some obvious choices, so if anyone thinks of some people that would enjoy the group, invite 'em to join in!
  14. creasecollector
So what's everyones favorite part of collecting goalies over any other player? :)
  15. 56Parkies
For me, I love the cards that no other skaters can get -- mask cards, some of the ITG game used cards like pads, etc. BTP is probably the product I look forward to most every year!

I think for me, being a goalie had a lot to do with it. When I started collecting I always liked goalie cards. And when I wanted to have my very first "pc" collecting specific goalies just seem to fit :) and yes, BTP is a very great product, a whole product dedicated to goalies!! Now that's just awesome

Is anyone here going to the toronto expo?
  18. 56Parkies
No expo for me.. I live out on the West coast, so it's a bit of a trek for me to get out to T-dot!

Glad to join the "Goalie Collectors" group! I am a Mask card collector (ITG, Pinnacle etc.) and have been collecting Masks for almost three years now. Also collecting European versions such as Mask sets from the Finnish, Swedish, German and Czech leagues!

It looks like I will be moving most of my Goalie insert sets (over 400 of them). I think I'm going to keep my autograph sets as well as any set that depicts goalie masks. Other than that, it's probably available. If anyone is interested in anything, shoot me a PM. My set listing can be found on my website - http://www.freewebs.com/tkmullin/goaliesets.htm
