That Old Rookie Card Snafu Again
by frozenheroes on 11-07-2015 at 05:46 PM
Boy what a hot topic issue right now. We usually get about one or two emails asking about 'Rookie' clarification a week and lately it seems to be one or two a day. First let me say don't trust the card companies who slap the word 'ROOKIE' around or put 'RC' on cards at will. They have a very vested interest in driving people to their product and driving prices up for them. Years ago at least half of these so called rookie cards (Pacific, Ultra, Topps) actually weren't rookies at all. Now it is simply
CONNOR McDAVID YG RC
by frozenheroes on 11-07-2015 at 05:43 PM
I was asked my opinion on the Connor McDavid YG RC coming out of 2015-16 Upper Deck Series 1. First I live by my card rule that in most cases 'PATIENCE' is a virtue. There are so many of these cards available and the market will get flooded even more than it is now when retail product kicks out in a week or so. I firmly believe that $300 for this card is ridiculous and that much like Nathan MacKinnon you will see a significant price correction in a few months. So be patient and wait for the selling
If you don't know what you have or don't know it's value – don't sell it !

Another one of those touchy subjects by a member of a forum I belong to so I thought I'd voice in on. I've mentioned it before but I'll say it again IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU HAVE OR DON'T KNOW IT'S VALUE – DON'T SELL IT !
I cannot tell you the hundreds of stories I've heard and seen first hand from people losing thousands of dollars because of crooks taking their items for a fraction of their value. I've caught guys doing this and been threatened by them because I told guys not to sell their
Greed and Deceit
by frozenheroes on 11-02-2015 at 04:53 PM
After talking to a new client the other day and telling him our story of forty years in the hobby he asked what stands out the most about the hobby. I said without hesitation that the amount of greed and deceit in the hobby is terrible. The hobby has been infiltrated by greedy people not collectors and we have seen deceit in epidemic proportions. Now we have 'scammers lists' and 'blocked buyers' lists, heck we even started tracking people we don't want to deal with.
It was a
Shipping and more excuses
by frozenheroes on 10-24-2015 at 03:06 PM
Here's another gem from one of our favorite pet peeves. Shipping ripoffs.
I win 5 cards from a guy's auction and he charges me $6.25 CDN for shipping. He lives in Canada just like me and he uses a $1.80 stamp and throws two cards in T/L's and the rest loose in a cut up bubble mailer. I send him a message stating that I'm not happy with the lousy shipping when he is charging so much. He isn't even smart enough to know we are in Canada (although the postage used were CDN stamps not US
