NHL GTS game 1

Hello to all...

due to the FRIENDLY (thanks to everyone for NOT sending me hostile PMs) requests from hockey fans, as well the wonderful post by TorPeteO

I have requested, and subsequently received, permission to do NHL GTS daily. I apologize for the short time frame for today's GTS -- just got out of work. Tomorrow's NHL GTS will be put up tonight. But for today -- it's gonna be a quickie, as there's not much time left before the starting times of the games.


HERE ARE THE RULES (with help from TorPeteO -- who gets 75 CC for that wonderful mathematical posting!!!)

1. I will put up 3-5 games daily (if there is a day when only 2 games are played, then I will put up 2 games).

2. Everyone should put in his/her guess for the winning team and the winning scores of those 3-5 games.

3. The rules for winning each game is exactly the same as MLB GTS, NFL GTS, NCAA football GTS = guess the winning team, and guess the correct score of that game.

The OVERALL WINNER for that particular day's NHL GTS will be the one who wins the most games of that day. That person will then get the 100 CC. Only one winner each day. See the link above for explanation as to why there are 3-5 games each day.

100 CC for the winner each day.

125 CC is given out ONLY if winner guess correctly the winning team and exact score of 50% of the games for that day.
For example, today has 4 games being played. If the OVERALL winner guesses the exact score for 2 of the 4 games, he/she gets 125 CC

4. Each day will have a tie-breaking question, if there is a tie, for whatever reason.

please note: this is a work in progress..I may end up having to modify the rules, simply b/c the scoring in NHL are so low.

You can pick the same player Lefty did, but you can't use the same number of goals scored.

here are the final scores:

congrats to SEALEDPWR, with a 4-2 guess for the Islanders

game 2: 3-1 Rangers
congrats to Patrick, with a 3-2 guess for the Rangers

note: Bonds_25 came close, with a 2-1 guess...but Patrick4 won b/c he guessed the score of the winning team (and this takes precedence over guessing the score of the losing team).

game 3: 2-1 Canadiens
Congrats to TORPETEO, the only person to guess the Canadiens would win.

game 4: 6-1 Canucks
congrats to BERGZAUTOS, with a guess of 4-1 Canucks


So, as I had anticipated, we have no clear winners, and thus, we go to the tie breaker...

First, Patrick4 is the winner, b/c amongst the 4 folks who won the above games, he is the only one to correctly guess the score of the winning team, thus winning the tie-breaker


Now, for hypothetical situation, let's apply the rules of the tie-breaker question:

Patrick4 and Bergzauto correctly guessed the player who would score the most goals -- Ed Jovanovski (note: Mariusz Czerkawski had 2 goals, but no one guessed that player).

Patrick guessed that Jovanovski would have 2 goals; HOWEVER, Bergzauto DID NOT put in a guess of the number of goals, as a result, Patrick wins.

Congrats to Patrick, who wins 100 CC and is the INAUGURAL WINNER
