Connor McDavid suffers hand injury in fight

Erie Otters centre and potential No. 1 overall pick Connor McDavid is out indefinitely after suffering a right hand injury during a fight Tuesday night.

McDavid was fighting with Mississuaga Steelheads' Bryson Cianfrone at 13:50 of the second period.

McDavid had x-rays at the hospital. He will visit a hand specialist Wednesday for further examination.

It appeared McDavid suffered the injury after he missed Cianfrone and hit the glass with his right hand.

Too bad. The kid plays the game the right way and now he's side lined. Hope it doesn't deter him from dropping the mitts again.

Learned about this last night, and have been quite disappointed. I have tickets for both Subway Series games when the Russians play the OHL all-stars...including tomorrow night in Peterborough, which Connor McDavid was supposed to play. Also have tickets to see the Erie Otters when they come to town in December.

Let's hope it's not too serious that he misses the World Juniors!

If he broke the hand, he will be missing the tournament for sure.

2nd fight ever for McDavid, the other kid was just trying to make a name for himself, McDavid will still be #1 in the draft next year, Buffalo will get him.

    Well here's the confirmation:

Erie Otters announce Connor McDavid suffered fracture of 5th Metacarpal bone on right hand; expected to miss 5-6 weeks.

Well Connor is only 40 fights behind Bobby Orr, its hard to believe but Bobby fought 42 times, and yes McDavid is out for 5-6 weeks.
