Is UD Premier going to be an affordable set to build?

    Hi all,

Ive been looking for something to do in this hobby for a while. I love cards (and have no intention of quitting) but my PC tends to end up very random. I've asked people in the past about building cup sets and it just seems so expensive. So my question is: Will premier (especially missing a big #1 pick rookie) be an affordable set to make?

    Share your thoughts.

    Matt

At $300 a tin it'll be a lot to break. But compares to $500 a tin for Cup, you should be able to do it for 1/2 the cost roughly if you think of it that way.

I was also thinking that there wouldn't be any crazy short prints like in Cup that would create a premium. If you consider a Mackinnon Cup is 3K, it makes the set a lot more expensive!

    Hey Matt.

In my personal opinion I think long-term the value of the rookies in this set will be under-valued.

Right out of the gate like any set all cards get top value then decrease, but I think with cup still to come out and cup always being the best rookie cards to get, a set like this even though these will still be fairly rare won't keep long-term value due to a few reasons:

#1 - This is a new set and not an original set that has been consistently made within the last 10 years or so.

#2 - This type of particular style of rookie may not be as strong and appealing to collectors as a Cup rookie is, almost ANY collector would take a cup RC if given the chance over almost any other true rookie card.

#3 - With the box prices being so much I think collector's would rather wait to open cup and pay $200 more. Which means less demand for this product and not only on the sealed product area but also on the secondary market.

#4 - These are basically like ice premieres patches /10 in previous sets from previous years. They are no longer /10 but now true rookies in a different set and much higher numbered. Ultimately I hate to think it but if UD does the same type of idea/set next year could the new ice patch rookies /199 and such bring the older ones /10 down in value? It's a tough argument but I would hope not because the previous years were /10 but still with saturation ANY CARD can decrease in value.

Anyways Matt. Ultimately collect what you want, not what someone else collects. That's why companies make trillions of cards each year =P

    Cheers bud,

    Frank

If you are making a set of high end cards by breaking wax you are doing it wrong...

For the price of one case of cup you could probably do the whole set of /249 rookies....
