Denver Nuggets point guard Ty Lawson has been arrested in Los Angeles on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol — his second DUI arrest this year.

California Highway Patrol Officer Jennifer Cassidy said Lawson was driving a white Mercedes Benz at a high rate of speed before being pulled over around 2 a.m. Tuesday on state Route 101 in Hollywood.

Cassidy said Lawson displayed several signs of intoxication when he was stopped.

He was booked in jail at 3:43 a.m. and released five hours later on $5000 bail.

He is scheduled to appear in court on August 4.

Kevin Tao told The Denver Post Lawson had $6,000 in cash on him at the time of his arrest.

'He verbally identified himself as a professional basketball player for the Denver Nuggets,' Tao said.

The Denver Nuggets said the team was 'aware of the arrest and would have no further comment.'
