Sold as "decorative items". That's pretty low.

    Jason,
What do you want to know. . He was set up in the same row as SCF. Someone turned him in as if your in a room of long time hobbyist your going to get exposed when your prices are too low and the items end up not being legit. Had all his things wheeled out on a dolly and told to leave. I feel sorry for all the folks that bought stuff from him. , It was interesting watch him pack up all his stuff.

Not sure if you seen the other article but the hot topic to me is not so much the forgeries but dealers getting ripped off of high dollar vintage cards and being robbed at their tables. Think someone took a awesome clemente high grade rookie at the east coast national. It creating a whole new industry in video camera service in helping protect dealers from would be thieves. If you need the article lmk and I will dig it up.

p.s. I think he used sold as decorative because he said he could not vouch for the auto authenticity . It is sad day indeed when people actually buy this stuff.

Basically, was just wondering how it all went down. What you provided is pretty much what I was looking for.

I saw (in fact, I think I posted) an article about the Clemente.

The idea I had that (might) reduce thievery... At least to some extent:

I'm amazed that PSA doesn't offer a service where cards are marked with an invisible strand of unique DNA to help identify cards that are cracked out of cases. They did something similar 20 years ago when Sosa and McGwire were chasing Maris to identify and authenticate each HR ball. It would also eliminate people from cracking and re-submitting in an attempt at a higher grade. While that might be part of why they don't do it (as they make money on each resubmission), I would think it would also help build their integrity in the hobby (for the reasons mentioned above with theft, and a "we stand by our grading so much we've permanently stamped it on the card" angle).

Yes, they're "actual signatures", but not signed by the actual player...that's forgery. Hopefully this guy ends up doing jail time.

    Glad that what you wanted.

Would be nice if someone did something like this to make the hobby better by preventing resubmission.
