Browns RB Kareem Hunt Suspended Eight Games

The NFL has suspended Browns running back Kareem Hunt eight games for violating the league’s personal conduct policy, reports ESPN’s Adam Schefter (via Twitter).

“I want to again apologize for my actions last year,” Hunt said in a statement (via USA Today’s Mike Jones on Twitter). “I know that my behavior hurt a lot of people, and I again apologize to them. I respect the league’s decision on discipline, and I appreciate the time I spent with Commissioner Goodell last week. I’m grateful for my time with the Browns over the last month and thankful to all the people in the organization that have welcome me. I also appreciate all of the support I received from my union through this process. My commitment to earning the trust of the league, my teammates, the organization, and this community through my actions will continue, and I understand there is a lot of work ahead of me before I’m able to fully return to playing the game I love.”

Imagine being called something racist and then not being able to defend yourself in the slightest of ways without facing possible punishment. Kareem had that night, and in my eyes you should never lay your hands on a woman. He did as little as possible by pushing her down and then nudging her with his leg. He showed the tiniest of self control or this could of been a whole lot worse (Ray Rice). 8 games is fair, and when he is able to play for the Browns, that team will be even scarier.

Tiniest of self control is completely correct. Doesn't matter what was said, it's a woman and he had at least 3 or 4 chances to walk away and chose not to. Personally, I would have suspended him 8 games for every instance that he broke free/pushed someone out of the way/ran around someone just to get back at the woman again. How many seasons does that add up to?

I'm not a Hunt or Browns fan but the suspension is absurd ... he was not charged with a crime, not arrested, not convicted, etc ... in fact the Police report actually listed the female as the suspect and it was the female that instigated the entire thing ... of course Kareem acted like an idiot and was wrong for not just going back into his room, but an 8 game suspension for a non-issue in regards to the law is absurd.

The NFL had no choice but to suspend him given all that has transpired over the last several years...I don't disagree with the move at all.

Exactly, NFL always has to save face when it comes to matters like this. Did alcohol cloud his judgement, yes, but at least he didn't punch her and went nuts.
