Sounds like the mascot needs an assistant, lol so the team dressed up the job title a bit to make assisting the mascot seem a bit more formal er professional, lol.

I know, lol.... I was curious, because the position sounds interesting on face value but then you read the job description and you realize what they're looking for is just a waterboy basically, someone to keep the mascot hydrated, tow a 300lb grill and handout free promotional hot dogs at various summer events throughout Iowa... The position has pretty much nothing to do with hockey..
False advertising man, lol. They could have been more accurate and called the job a public relations "position"...
When I think of marketing I think of coming up with marketing strategies, promotions, fan outreach, event planning etc...
If it was a serious full-time position I probably would have inquired because I have a background in marketing hence the qualifications, but I was a bit disappointed after reading the job description to say the least..
Back in the late 90's I interned a bit for the Chicago Wolves doing various administrative jobs - in short I got college credit, some experience and references - they got free labor, lol... It was cool tho, I did get get a few bucks on the side, free tickets, access to the ice and the players so it was pretty cool... I also have some pretty unique jerseys as well... The marketing team would come up with different jerseys for different events and such, and in some situations different jersey concepts, get a few dozen made for sample purposes and end up giving them away and I got a couple "unique" jerseys and I still have them so...
I guess my point is that interning for a hockey team (I assume any professional sports team) isn't all that bad if it's a legitimate position or internship..
I just don't want to come off like smaller jobs within an organization are terrible because I'm having a little fun with this specific job.
