Reed recently returned from his Massachusetts Buying Trip and one of the items that he purchased on the trip could be one of the most talked about/debated individual cards in the history of the hobby.
Reed purchased a 1990 Topps Frank Thomas Rookie Card No Name on Front, or NNOF. This card has been a hot topic for collectors for many years. If you have some time on your hands, check out the forum on PSA’s website dedicated to the card (warning…there are 22 pages to read!)
There has been some pretty impressive investigative reporting by collectors over the years, not just on the Thomas but on the other cards in the set like this one that exist!
This is the first time that Reed has even seen one of these cards “in the wild”…meaning not already in the hands of a dealer or graded. Reed has personally only owned one of these cards and that was 15 years ago!
Reed had this to say about the find:
While this example grades significantly lower, I believe it is 100% legit. There have only been 322 examples graded by the big three grading companies. What a thrill to find one of these!
Have you ever had any encounters with one of the “error cards” from the 1990 Topps set? Let’s us know…we’d love to hear about it!
Be sure to follow us on Facebook as Reed will be sharing more items that he purchased on his trip!
