I'm curious, Why do people try to complete base sets?

I collect some sets. It just fun to try to put together a whole set of someting. Setting a goal makes collecting more fun to me.

I agree with Minew. I just recently got into set collecting. Makes busting boxes a lot more fun because theres a goal other then pulling one high end card. The one senseless thing is how cheap they sell after all is said and done lol. Something to do though, and make every box more interesting!

It all started with set collecting, and that used to be the main reason you bought packs and boxes. Now, people buy packs and boxes like they are buying scratch-off lottery tickets, and even if you manage to build a set, it is practically worthless to other collectors. Very sad commentary on the hobby today.

for most people, collecting is still for fun, and not purely for profit

Not sure how to post with quote, but thats true. It sucks because if you collect the set it is something to be proud of but worthless in the hobby the way it is set up today

to post with quote, do the following:
1. go to that players' post
2. You will see icons along the bottom of each person's post
at the bottom far right side, you will see an icon QUOTE.
3. click on quote
that will then go to the page for your to respond, as well as include the person's quote
