I don't think those fall into this, but I'd heard nothing about limited run shoes or whatever until I saw an episode of Entourage where Turtle was dying for a pair of limited run Fukiyamas. Apparently sneakers are a big deal to some people and artists will design a limited run that have a huge price tag. I say I don't think these fall into that because they just look like a shameless advertising ploy...
The most I've ever paid for a pair of sneakers is like $60. I bought them in college and they're still my only pair of sneakers....that was about 7-8 years ago.

for those shoes no. I do have a friend though that collects basketball shoes and has some jordans that can fetch a pretty penny if he were to sell 'em. I figured these were going to be some limited edition lebron first issue only 23 made kicks. So, being a collector of football cards I can see someone paying that much for a pair of shoes just not thote ones.

give me a clean white pair of air force ones or some reebok classics...they match with everything...and then you still have $2450 in your pocket

I managed a very popular shoe store for a while. Shoes are HUGE! People love limited shoes. Certain shoes are auctioning on eBay for over 3k a pair. It is all about how crazy they look and how few of them there are. It sucked though, because with limited shoes, if they had the smallest piece of dust or anything on them, nobody would buy them.
