In the grand scheme of things, not a major issue. UD had sticker autos on Cup printing plates in 05-06.

Didn't know that. Still, I hate sticker autos and putting them on any 1/1's, even a plate, is pretty meh.

I honestly don't have a problem with redemptions, especially if it's of very low print run cards.

Understandable - it does look odd on the plates and it's kind of a letdown to have a 1/1 sticker auto, but printing plates are kind of a cool bonus thing to have and if it's got a signature on it so much the better.
