A scammer searches the box, replaces the packs and reseals the tin. Retail stores are a lot less likely to notice the subtle difference. They put it back on the shelf thinking it's good product. If it doesn't have an upper deck seal, I wouldn't go anywhere near it again. Kinda sad to see all the scamming in the hobby.

That makes sense. I'm surprised that the stores would allow returns though.
With a story like yours, you've got a reasonable explaination and why an exchange should be allowed (why I don't think blanket policy should ever be made) but I do question what story these scammers have that is letting them return product? (Or course if its been re-sealed, probably much easier to do)

hehehe.
Nope. It's one of the things I'll give UD lots of credit for on their retail products.
With the Blasters (8 packs / 2 YGs) and Tins (12 packs / 3 YGs) they are very good for packing out the correct hits. Obviously there is a bad box somewhere.... but they usually get it right.

had the same issue with a 10-11 from local Walmart back in November, all base not even 1 insert
I decide to contact UD and they asked from the serail number and receipt and I sent it in with a letter to explain and request for my 2 ygs and some inserts.
5 weeks later and got my ygs

These are coming this way directly from the supplier. I saw them come out of a sealed box off a Walmart truck from the company below. Contact them, and ask them why they are sending resealed tins, and blasters to their retail stores. They supply all hockey, Pokeman etc to Walmart, Zellers, TRU, and convenience stores like 7-ll etc. I've known of this for a couple years, but nobody wanted to hear it, or believe it. I got scammed on 08-09 Black Diamond when they came out. All I can do is tell people to watch the wrapper like you guys have. Until someone goes after Beckett Associates this will continue to go on.

yeah its a sad happening...i was in a out-of-town walmart and i noticed almost ALL of the boxes were searched...i'll never personally buy from walmart or target or other stores...it pains me too cause i work at a target and get an employee discount...i only by from hobby stores, or a trusted buddy at the local flea market
Please check my inventory before my photobucket!!! It's more up to date!!!

I got a sealed tin from Target for Christmas. Got 4 packs in and noticed all the cards had been base...checked the bottom of the packs, sure enough every pack had been slit open. Went back to Target after seeing this thread, got my money back in gift card form and checked the shelves for any other tins. Sure enough there was another tin, wrapped in clear plastic. Target employees opened it and sure enough the same thing.

That's pretty f***ed up if the supplier is responsible for all this. I think the only way to really stop this is to put the retail stores on notice and get them to refuse payment on any clear plastic sealed tins/blasters and return them to the vendor ASAP.
I don't think anyone outside the hobby would think anything is wrong with the product as long as it's sealed. Even now, some of us in the hobby are just figuring it out.

Hahah damn, looks like you made off a lot better than I did. Nice to hear that upper deck helped you out. I've heard lots of horror stories about ud's customer service. Maybe panini getting a license to produce nhl has made them work a little harder to keep the customers happy. Either way, the competition is good for the consumers.
