I laugh at those who think the Bruins style of play is way the NHL should continue onwards.
No one said their win was not legitimate. They won the Cup so be it. It worked for them so props to them. But calling the Canucks pansies because they don't play anything like the Bruins is like calling the Bruins a bunch of goons who can't score properly to win a game. All they did was bang and crash to squeeze out a win without any skill.
Both aren't true, now is it?
...
Anyhow back on topic. Schneider had ample chances to prove he is worthy of the number 1 spot.
This first round playoffs was not like his first shot.
Luongo was injured at the beginning of the season.
Schneider immediately stepped in and recorded 2 consecutive game SO. He also played 5 straight until he finally lost a game (even though Luongo was ready to play). The only reason he didn't continue is because we are paying a 7 million goalie to sit as a backup.
Even though he played 33 games this season he posted a 1.96 gaa and 0.937 save percentage. Second in the NHL. Those are outstanding numbers. They are league high numbers.
I can tell it is business decision on Luongo. Simply put, if he wasn't being played, they would have $7 million sitting on the bench.Last edited by Yipper; 06-01-2012 at 03:51 AM.

The Curse of the White House Snub.
Rumours going around that Thomas is considering taking a year off.
Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

Where did you hear this rumor b/c this is news to me. I'd do that trade in a heart beat since the Leaf's aren't giving up anything that can't be replaced and getting rid of komi's contract is a major plus. That being said I don't see the 'nucks doing this trade in 10000 years. Are you a leaf's fan by any chance?

I think it's hilarious how much 'nucks fans live in the past. You lost to the b's, DEAL WITH IT and stay on topic. There is more than enough that can be said about the future of Luongo without mentioning things that happened almost a year ago. Enough said.

Not really no.
Because of what happened a year ago Luongo will be moved out. Saying the two aren't linked is just failing to recognize the importance of the events.

That is true Habit, but harping on it throughout this entire thread is a little much don't you think? Plus Luongo hasn't proved to win on many levels and last year was just one in a large list of failures.

Dunno, but back-to-back Presidents Trophy's for the Canucks and a no-show in the 7th game last year, and beaten like a cheap rug by the Kings....... Even my Red Wings weren't that inept when they won the PT.
You start winning the President's Trophy on a regular basis, and or finish 2nd or 3rd in the Conference, at some point you have to start bringing home Stanley.
Last time I checked the Bruins are still Stanley Cup Champs for another week to 10 days or so, the Canucks, are still what? Nothing is what they are.

Die-hard Nucks fan.
The prospect/draft pick would be a good one too, like Kadri maybe, and it gives a lot more value to the Canucks than what you might think. It's good both ways actually.

I'll always love it when people say the Canucks lost in the first round. They, to this point not including the Devils, have faired the best against the Kings by far, just saying. They are on a hot streak, and it looks like no one will stop them.
As already explained a billion times, Canucks fans are more open-eyed after this season about who the better goalie is. Who played Boston, in Boston, and won? Who played the final games of the Playoffs, and phenomenally at that? Who's ALWAYS shown poise, class, and calmness when needed? It's a pretty simple answer.
Luongo is simply not a playoff goalie. The problem is is that he normally lets in a bad goal that is a huge momentum changer, and that's what allows teams to be successful in the playoffs: momentum.
