stolen cards
ive used beckett before to grade my tiger rc auto and i did not have a problem, ive even used them to auction off some things, ive never even heard of something like this.! well im really sorry for your loss but i hope you put insurance and a tracking number on that box. i always ship usps they are fast cheaper and if your box does get busted they have law enforcement that can help possibly, opening mail of any kind is a federal offense. i also spend the extra cash to get it there as fast as possible. dont be too quick to judge beckett either, cause it could have been ups employees who busted your box too, saw the autos and and saw dollar signs in their eyes. check on ebay the next couple weeks to see if your cards come up. i hope you have pictures, and the serial numbers to prove that those are your cards. just some things to think about while trying to get your cards back. good luck

I would also suggest filing a complaint with the better business bureau against beckett. This will make it much harder for them to ignore you and give them incentive to resolve the issue.

it sounds like 1 of 3 possible senerios.
1) a beckett employee is shady and stole the cards and then sold them to the card shop
2) the person who stole them works at the card shop or at UPS and knows that alot of people send in top $$ cards to get graded. since its right down the street they probably steal the mail and then sell the cards
3) some random collector in the area intercepted the mail and stole the package
senerio 2 and 3 would be considered mail fraud and is a FEDERAL offense. i would contact beckett and the local PD to see if they have any similar complaints filed lately. its probably not the first and will not be the last time this theif does this.

I know for a fact it has to be Beckett. UPS has a system in which if the a courier get caught not only does UPS pay, the employee pays as well. And on top of that he gets a record and might get jail time. UPS does not take this lightly.
I would suggest checking that Ebay seller id and see what he has sold in the past. Several members on this site has complained about lost cards. Maybe he's the one that has a connection with Beckett.

I think somebody stole 1 of the cards first. Hence them sending you an email saying only 3 of the cards arrived. Then, somebody stole the other 2 cards (MJ and Dwight) at beckett and said that they made a mistake and there was only 1. The person that stole the 2 cards at beckett sold them to the shop who then listed them on ebay.
