    cup versus itg?????

ok..here's the thing..i have a deposite on a case of the cup..since then i have been opening a bunch of itg products..and i have become a really big fan ofm there product lines..for some reason i just don't seem all that excited about the cup's release..even though this would be my first time ever opening that product..a lot of people say that product is a big big gamble..as are other products too..i just seem to have good luck with itg..even though it sounds like i made up my mind already..any opinions would be great..i would hate to drop the cup if it is really that big of a product every year..or should i stick to mym man's dr price's products???

The Cup is one of if not the biggest release of the year. If I had the money I would not get rid of my deposit. It is a gamble, but no matter what you're going to get some nice patches and autos. I, personally, strongly dislike ITG, therefore I say go with the Cup.

it's up to you. i personally prefer UD over ITG. if you prefer ITG over UD, that's cool too. it all depends on what you want to switch your order over to. there's no doubt Cup is UD's highest end product. if you are going to switch orders, what are you switching to?

also, in almost any comparable instance, you aren't going to find a bigger hit in an ITG box compared to what's possible in an UD box. the Property Ofs, Dual Shields, Dual Auto Shields, and RCs /99 are fan favorites.

I prefer ITG to UD, but i'd go with The Cup if i had the money.

So i'd say keep your money on this gamble and see what happen :)

    Good luck.

I typically prefer ITG to UD, but The Cup is traditionally a solid release. As with any UD product, though, you have to open enough for the odds to even out for you. I personally wouldn't open a single tin or a 3-tin case of The Cup, but a 6-tin case could work out for you (look at the single boxes of Ultimate Collection - The Cup is 3x+ the price and you could get essentially the same 4-card 'bust').

It (as is often the case) depends on what you are looking for out of your break... Rookies, immediate re-sale value, & a potential huge hit are all plusses for The Cup. Vintage, outstanding game-used, & potential big hits are all plusses for ITG. I don't know what ITG I'd switch over to at this point, though. Secondary prices on Superlative and Ultimate Memorabilia hardly justify the box/case pricing (still nice hits available, though, if you are after PC items) and BTP/H&P/1972 are all much lower-end (meaning they will lack the 'wow' The Cup will bring).

I would also weigh what pricing you've got on The Cup. You may have an easy time flipping it sealed depending on the price you got. I know a lot of distributors had their allocations cut and I saw several sell out their allocations very quickly. The secondary pricing I've seen is steep (based on the distribution price), but will still go up on release (everything does). If you move quickly or have someone local looking for a case, you could go for the quick flip and guarantee yourself a quick profit rather than 'risk' more or less after opening it.

    Just a couple thoughts...

I say you wait until you can see a Cup checklist, even if it is a preliminary one.

You know UD has been changing these products on the fly this year but if it looks like halfway decent, break The Cup, it is always the best product of the year for UD and makes a good return for the most part.

If the checklist looks like crap, pull your money and put it into ITG Ultimate, this year the TENTH edition, which I think rivals the Cup every year...................

ITG products are absolutely nothing compared to UD The Cup. :)

It's amazing how much of a hold UD has over people. UD products have been misses all year, why would The Cup be any different?

    ITG for me.
