Is there no trust in this hobby anymore?

Just a curious question, as there have been some raising doubts lately.

In the past 2 weeks, 2 of my trades were agreed upon, to send at the same time, but that wasn't the case. Both of those instances the other trader shipped out 2-4 days after they received my end, WTH!?!

Is there no more trust in this hobby?

I would love to hear the excuses from the traders, but I really don't want to, since they have both been posting and making other deals, while and after they completed my deals. I sent PM's to them, waiting for a reply, but so far nothing. All traders involved, even supplied DC#'s and that's how I found out, but I probably would have found out anyway, just by postmark dates.

I think this is really unfair, especially since all traders involved are well established.

Sorry for the rant, I just needed to vent, as I haven't experienced this at all in my 5+ years of online trading on SCF.

    Thank you.

That's a dirtbag move if you are supposed to send at same time, but wait to receive and then send yours out, late to boot.

    I just don't understand it.

All of my years of online trading, accumulate to over 8 years and I have never experienced it, just observed it and read about it from other people posting about the issue. And I always said to myself, wow, that's just wrong.

Now, 2 times in the past 2 weeks. I hope we don't see a trend of trust being an issue.

This happens to me more than I like and it bothers me too. I usually try to give people the benefit of the doubt since I don't know the circumstances but I have sent a few PMs when it happens too.

The worst though was a couple times when a few traders did this to me and then had the audacity to PM me whining that I hadn't left them positive feedback

Maybe it is your low feedback total.

It is frustrating to have that happen. I normally cut the other trader some slack because I don't know why they shipped late. Maybe we should start noting it in the feedback we leave. Still leave positive but make it known they did not ship until after they received.

Not cool at all, sorry to hear.

I don't mind giving the benefit of the doubt either, but when they don't reply to PM's, they're making more deals with others and they don't even send a PM to say it will be shipped late, that's just wrong overall, along with not following up with the agreement. So how much more benefit of the doubt can be given?

I always make sure I ship at agreed intervals and if there is ever a problem, I will PM the other party.
To me, communications is key and I wouldn't even mind if a trade was delivered to me 3 weeks after an agreement, as long as I was told in advance.

    That's what it is, lol.

I don't mind cutting some slack, but at least have the line of communications open, if you're not going to go along with what was agreed upon.

Couldn't agree more with that last comment.

When I make a deal, I try my best to have it in the mailbox the next morning. It's not always possible.... but there really is no reason why you can't have your end of a trade in the mailbox within 3 days of the deal being agreed to.

I'll admit, I buy more on here than I trade - and I normally send the paypal within a few minutes of agreeing to a sale.

Like you, I have no problem waiting a little bit longer than that. If you have a good reason for not being able to ship for a couple of weeks. Just be up front about it, and its not a big deal.

SCF rules require that you ship within 3 days. If the DC shows that they shipped more than 3 days after agreeing to the deal then I suggest that you contact one of the dispute team moderators (etmill01). While not much will be done right now at least it will be documented that they shipped slow so that if there are future issues with them then we have a collection of evidence that shows they have trade issues and can then pursue a Must Send First tag.

If someone files a dispute because they are shipping slow then it looks like it is just that one instance. But if you contact staff about it and it is documented and later when a dispute is filed it is the second time they have had a trade issue and action can be taken.

In this case, send me usernames of the people who you traded with and the DC numbers and I will make note of it.

Very true and the way it should be.

I just received a reply from the first trader: He says he's sorry, but he placed my package in his sun visor and totally forgot about it.

The funny thing is, I already received it 11 days after it was agreed upon to ship the same day, but he shipped it 7 days later, way after he received my end (3 days). Why reply now, after the trade is completed and 2 PM's were sent out?

Please, traders, just give more communication, so things like this don't happen, and please respond when a response is needed, so that further confusion doesn't happen.
