Yeah Pekka has been tremendous.
Sadly I will miss game 5 tonight... kinda ™™™™™™ about it actually.
Whatever, yeah Peks is awesome.. and LEgwand is barely a top 6 forward, but i like him

You know it's a great year for goalies when a guy with 36 wins, a 2.28 GAA, a .928 save percentage and 11 (!) shutouts is widely considered the fifth-best 'tender in the league.
In other words, it sucks to be Lundqvist.

why would it be nuts? Luongo had the same amount of wins as Price but reached that mark in a dozen fewer games while have a lower GAA and higher sv% than Price.
And I don't see the argument for Price just because he has the wins category. He has the wins but all 3 finalists had better winning percentages. Tim Thomas and Roberto Luongo's were much much better and Rinne would have to go 5-6-3 to equal Price's season record. Price shouldn't be in the top 3 compared to the others numbers but easily was the 5th or 6th best goalie in the league

The award winners were chosen before the playoffs started.

you mean the noms right?
I know the noms are based on the regular season, but don't tell me the playoff performances have NO bearing on the decisions...
like if rinne takes nashville to the cup and thomas gets put out in the first round, no way in hell thomas wins the vezina
the noms were in before the playoffs started, not the final say on the winner, I don't believe it
nice karlsson PC btw

Actually, playoffs have absolutely no bearing on the award voting. All of the NHL award winners have already been decided before the playoffs started. The NHL just likes to have a list of 3 finalists so they can have an award show.
Tim Thomas could have a 0% save percentage in the playoffs and still win the Vezina, because the award is based on the regular season ONLY. The only trophies awarded based on playoff performances are the Con Smythe and the Stanley Cup.

Not just the nominations, the voting has already been done.
"The voting is conducted at the end of the regular season, and each individual voter ranks their top three candidates on a 5-3-1 points system. Three finalists are named and the trophy is awarded at the NHL Awards ceremony after the playoffs."

Thomas will probably win it with his low GAA. However, that comes from solid Team Defense.
Rinne did more of his great season heroics on his own, so he is my choice. It would be nice to see a trophy winner from a not so mainstream team.
Remember, the Vezina should be presented to the best goaltender, not presented to the team with the best Team Defense.

If that were the case, Martin Brodeur would have about 8 of them.
