2020-21 Upper Deck Extended Series Retail Box vs. Hobby Box

I am trying to see what the difference is between the Retail Box and Hobby Box, except for the price.

Any information anyone has, please let me know.

    Different hits & ratios available.

Hobby will have the parallels (Exclusives, HG, Clear Cut, etc.) that are not found in the retail product. Likely also get fewer YG's and hits in retail.

This is what you can expect out of a hobby box break:

2020-21 Upper Deck Extended Series Hockey Hobby Box Break Average

    • 6 Young Guns
    • 4 2005-06 Upper Deck Inserts
    • 3 Ultimate Victory Inserts
    • 2 HoloGrFx Inserts
    • 2 Rookie Class SE Inserts
    • 1 Ovation Insert
    • 1 SPx Finite Insert
    • 1 Base French Parallel
    • 1 Dazzlers Insert OR Clear Cut Parallel
    • 1 Additional Insert (UD3, Pros and Prospects OR Triple Dimensions Reflections)

And here's what you can get from retail:

    BOX BREAK (on average)

    • 6 Young Guns Cards
    • 3 2005-06 Upper Deck Cards
    • 2 Rookie Class SE Cards
    • 1 2005-06 Upper Deck Young Guns Card
    • 1 HoloGrFx Card
    • 1 Ultimate Victory Card
    • 1 Ultimate Victory Rookies Card

I've only watched a few box breaks so far.
For you suckers that paid good money for this crap, what are your thoughts on quality?
Some are saying that the card stock is inferior to series one and two.
    Young Guns corners, rounded, sharp?
Where the heck are the Canvas cards?
    Too many BASE packs?

    @michaelpatko

Its a cheap break, did 1 box today and have a couple more waiting for me tomorrow.

22 packs had hits, so 2 base packs.

My collation was a little weird

    - 4x 05/06 Retro with no YG
    - 5x YGs instead of 6
    - only 1 HG ( supposed to get 2 )
    - only 1 SE ( supposed to get 2 )

    Better hits:

    - Clear Cut
    - French
    - Day with the Cup
    - UD3 /1000
    - SPx Finite /2999
    - SPx Finite Gold /299

For the same price point, id much rather bust 3 of these instead of 1 SPGU or 1 BD

There are some parallels of the inserts (red if I remember correctly) specific to retail, but most of the limited parallels are in the hobby boxes.

I broke 2 boxes. Instant remorse btw, value wise as I did not get one card of Lafreniere, Stutzle or Kaprozov. Most of my inserts are of established players and not RCs. At least 1 base pack per box(watch out for the sneaky variations though). Quality wise, base cards are a trainwreck. Most are off centered in some way, rounded corners. Surprisingly the Young Guns are in pretty good shape compared to series 1 & 2, meaning that UD is capable of doing a good job but for whatever reason, don't do it for series 1 and 2.
